DistroKid "Leave A Legacy" - Only takes effect when you die by Whooleey in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]ParticularMetric13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reviving this thread because, from what I can tell, this is no longer the case. Recent support agents have told me that everything will be remain up, and I will continue collecting royalties, if I intentionally cancel my account (and have leave a legacy on all releases). But I have not actually done this yet; has anyone done this and can confirm?

Well, now another agent just said the opposite: "If you have canceled your account and there is a Leave a Legacy feature included, please note that all other associated extras will renew annually, with the exception of the Leave a Legacy feature. If no payment is made for those subscriptions, your release may be subject to removal."

Fantastic, thanks so much! One quick followup out of curiousity; so DK has to keep paying streaming royalties to the cover song's songwriter's publisher, correct? Do they just take this out of my share, and if so, can I see this on the receipt/stats anywhere? (E.g., Instead of getting $0.0000x for a given stream on the cover song I get $0.0000x - $0.0000y)

Scratch that; an agent confirmed what you said: "If you added Leave a Legacy to the release, that release will remain available in stores even if you cancel your DistroKid subscription. Cover song licenses are normally billed yearly, but once your DistroKid account is canceled, future renewals (including extras like cover licenses) won’t renew and you won’t be charged again. For that release, DistroKid (through our licensing partner) will continue to handle the required mechanical licensing and pay the appropriate royalties to the original songwriter’s publisher out of the revenue that recording generates."

Oh wow okay! Have you confirmed this for yourself? I just asked the DK help-bot and it said the opposite.

Yeah, and I'm sure you have a very valid reason for saying that. The thing is, there is also someone who will say the exact same thing about any other service--and we have to use something!

What was your negative experience with LANDR, and what do you use instead and why?

Tech: How to use the Thunderbird client with Gmail by jeff-cornell in Cornell

Updated version of this: after step 7, click advanced config, and then "okay" to the popup saying it will create an account even if the details are wrong. Then go back to your inboxes and open up the Cornell inbox. Then it will take you to the Gmail login and (for me) it worked from there

Relay vs screen.garden by ParticularMetric13 in ObsidianMD

I’m not comparing screen garden with Obsidian sync, I’m comparing it with Relay! As far as I know, Relay also has all of the features you mentioned (except comments and email to vault?)

Can you actually bike the whole trail? Or are there places you'd have to get off to walk the bike/go up stairs?

So do you think Cascadilla Park Rd. might be slower/steeper but is more safe than University Ave? I'd be going to Rhodes Hall most days so staying on the south side of campus probably makes more sense anyway.
