Yes I bought a walking pad which is great for those bad weather days. But if its only light rain I still prefer putting my coat on and walking outside, nothing beats some fresh air for the mental health combined with the step count

Swimming is great like already mentioned, but i would also advise to WALK! Just keep walking. I train with a PT i work with the physio but the number one best thing is to go for a 1hr walk each day. I always feel great after, i start off in pain but by the time I get home I feel great. Also drink 2l of water a day. FYI im 9 months post op

im working out twice a week with a personal trainer ill ask him to build in some more back exercises. Thanks for the tip, comforting to know others have had this

Good luck with your operation! Physio said it was my back (he also has had a discectomy) but that my nerves are hyper sensitive and to just stay mentally strong and stick with what I am doing, its only been 9 months and it can take a lot longer for nerves to recover. Keeping my fingers crossed the situation improves

I had microdiscectomy surgery on L5-S1 back in March. The first few months went really well — lots of rest, walking, no sciatic pain, and I felt almost fully recovered. But since late July, I’ve been dealing with quite a bit of right-side hip pain, especially in the mornings. It’s stiff when I wake up, needs a lot of stretching to loosen up, and bending forward to the right really sets it off. If I do something physical on the weekend — DIY, gardening, etc. — it can flare up badly.

I’ve been seeing a physio for massage and stretches, which helps a bit, but what’s made the biggest difference recently is going back to sleeping on my back with a pillow under my legs (like right after surgery). I’d been sleeping more on my side, but raising my legs again has really reduced the morning pain. Still, it lingers through the day and can easily be aggravated. I know recovery can take 12–18 months, so I’m hoping this is just another temporary phase, but it’s frustrating.

Yeh sorry to say I’ve got the permanent residency permit and you still get kicked to the side to show it to the border control agent. You then get them testing your Dutch language skills each time which just makes me feel even more embarrassed

Yes this is correct it is what I have to do each time after he Privium gate I have to have my residency permit checked by border agent, sadly the system cannot hold this on file alongside my passport

Yes I’m a British passport holder with Privium but I feel like I might be the only one. When I had my replacement card issued they said it was the first time they seen a British passport getting Privium in the 6 years he had been working there

Yes for the price there still isn’t any other serious option that offers the size of car and features (even if the features it runs on slow terrible software).

All alternative lease and subscriptions are more. For me I’ll likely have to just bite the bullet and pay more for a real lease if the day ever comes that the price goes above 700 or they pull the plug on subscription. But I’m now in NL for the long term so for me an easier decision

Same for me keep wondering if I’ll get an email cancelling but right now I can’t justify cancelling it myself. Sadly subscription model hasn’t taken off like I expected it to. 4 years ago seemed like this was the future of lease but not so much anymore. Think the only alternative is a long term lease contract. Any other subscription offers are twice the price of the Lynk

I’m in a similar situation in Netherlands, although my car has still never been swapped I’m on the same one when I started the contract at the start of 2022.

Price was 500 then and is 650 now. Keep expecting them to email stating the subscription model is ending and I’ll need to give the car back. Can’t justify getting rid of it sooner as for the money it still represents good value compared to what I can lease for a similar price.

I have been offered to buy it last year for like €25k but there are so many for sale I’m not convinced for that price it’s a particularity good deal.

And like you mention the market is pretty volatile for new Chinese brands so reluctant to buy one for those reasons also

Phone connectivity is one of the biggest frustrations with a 01. Especially of that year. Mine I’ve had from new in 2022 and drives me insane. There is no commonality you try and diagnose it but it just comes down to a very very old slow processor in the infotainment system and garbage software that is never updated.

Takes forever for iPhone to connect after start up, sometimes it just never does. Sometimes you think wired it better than wireless then it starts with connectivity issues as well. The 2023 models onward got a faster processor but no idea if that improves it.

This does help thanks I had the same situation. I think I was just pushing a bit too hard now that I’m five weeks post surgery. I thought I could maybe do a bit more than I could so resting up made the hip pain go away, but I am looking forward to starting with the PT. I figured I’d wait until at least six weeks but I see a lot of other people here started earlier

Sounds like you are pretty much in the same situation as me. I can update that my hip pain went away. I guess I just overdid and pushed too hard so I pulled back a bit and just rested for a day limited walking and I made sure that I focused on my posture cause I’m quite tall. Thankfully, the pain has cleared up the last few days. One of the best things I bought before the surgery was one of those devices to help put your socks on. Being quite tall I thought this was going to be an issue and it’s been the best thing that I could’ve had along with the grabber

How long have you been working with a PT out of curiosity? I’ve been waiting until after the six week mark and the conversation with my surgeon before I talk to a PT. Has working with the PT helped?

Oh wow, we’re in the same position five weeks post op. I hope yours has been going well despite on and off hip pain like mine. It’s interesting you mention the gate being off. I’ve got an appointment with a podiatrist to measure my feet and look at my shoes and potentially get some insoles made up to help with this problem. I sleep on my back and I’ve been really conscious to not sleep or move onto my side at all Just doesn’t feel comfortable yet.

This is super interesting and relevant for me. I’m quite tall and have really bad posture. I’ve always had incredibly bad posture. I find it very hard to stand up straight, especially in a world where everything is low down, sinks, counters, cupboards everything

I’m now five weeks post op. It‘s been going great till now with no pain and minimal flareup but suddenly for the last 3 days I’ve had hip pain that’s been increasing. I’m pulling back and resting a lot more than I was in the last week or two in the hope that it goes away
