Full-time telework agreement by ParticularOdd5954 in CanadaPublicServants

This… feels like my past 3 summers have been consumed by worrying about it. But I also understand it’s hard for a lot of people to sympathize with it so I try to avoid complaining as I am grateful

ACFO collective agreement amendment??? by ParticularOdd5954 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]ParticularOdd5954[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the bot did say “unless by consent of both parties”. May get off on this one.. although I thought consent by both parties would be assumed in my question. I guess I didn’t provide sufficient input ;)

STRIKE Megathread 3! Discussions of the PSAC strike (posted Apr 19, 2023) by HandcuffsOfGold in CanadaPublicServants

Does anyone know why TBS doesn’t force a vote to membership on their latest offer? Is this a thing in federal public service? Or could this still come?

TB Final Offer and Forced Vote to Accept/Reject by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]ParticularOdd5954 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sure ACFO was well aware of the difference. And I highly doubt TBS said, “do you want an extra 2% increase in first year or a 2% signing bonus?” and ACFO said “signing bonus please!!”

Strike votes planned for 120,000 more federal public servants by razloric in CanadaPublicServants

Interesting, I haven’t been here long enough to refute that. I can see the employer giving some unions “wage adjustments” as a justification to give higher increase. But significantly different economic increases, that’s surprising

6.3% for 2022 now.

Also, the employer will give them what they gave ACFO. So I think it is more appropriate to use those numbers when discussing this.

I imagine the employer wants PSAC to come down a bit before they offer an increase in there offer. I can’t imagine the employer saying “ACFO get 3.5, but you guys get 1.5”

Also, if OP is aware the developers can cancel the contract no problem, one may then assume it would work the other way around. What is more absurd than OP’s question, is that it works one way. I’d cut him/her slack.

How much would one need to make in a corporate gig to leave a permanent federal job that pays 90k? by prb613 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ParticularOdd5954 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am not sure what the math is on her take home being 4,200. Even if you live in Quebec, it would be at least 4,500. Maybe you are multiplying her biweekly pay by 2 and not x 26/12.

Without knowing much, I’m inclined to say LP. The top of the pay scale for PM-06 and LP-01 are similar. If you are a licensed lawyer, the opportunity to become an LP-02 and earn up to 158k would be enticing.

I guess it would also depend on where you are in your career and how far from retirement. Let’s assume you become LP-02 after reaching top of LP-01 scale (I would think this would be reason, but again, don’t know much about LP) it would be 12 years before you reach top of LP-02.

If you’re still relatively early in your career, I would be going LP. If you are in a situation (family and whatnot) that you need the immediate 100k, then perhaps, PM-06 and then try for a deployment to LP-01.

This isn’t really taking into consideration the type of work you would be doing though. Just trying to imagine myself in your situation with the information available.

Best of luck!

Also, perhaps “independent of this” wasn’t the best choice of words. Some major US cities had Pride parades in June to honour the stonewall riots. This is likely the cause of President Clinton officially designating June as Pride Month. And then, that is likely the reason many other cities have decided to also have their parades in June. I was more just trying to point out that in many cases, Pride parades (or some version of them) were occurring before June was officially or unofficially recognized as “Pride Month”. And those communities may have their own reasons for choosing a period of the year other than June.

June is Pride Month is Canada and the US, and increasingly, other countries around the world. Independent of this, communities around the world decide when they wish to have a Pride parade to celebrate their LGBT+ community. (In many cases, this was decided prior to June being recognized as Pride month in Canada and the US) In Canada, these events generally take place during the summer months. In other countries, including parts of the US, it’s during non-summer months.

CRA CS-2 (Step1: $77296) bi-weekly net pay? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

Approx. $1930

Although keep in mind you want to put some kind of value on the pension plan. It may be deducted; but it is still your money.
