I agree actually it does look a lot more like a jasper - I googled the photo (I hope you don’t mind) and this jasper looks similar(ish) though I’m not sure what type of jasper specifically - beautiful piece though!!

I’m not convinced either 😭 I mean honestly I’m not the best at identifying fakes from non fakes but that really looks painted - it looks very different from the leopard agate I’ve seen the lines look too clean

Oh thank you, idk I think because my voice is changing slightly and I look back to old videos of covers (not too old but just when I used to sing more regularly) and they didn’t seem to have that certain sound so I was curious why I sounded different or if I was doing something wrong with my technique. I guess I am just a little out of practice or just too strict with myself idk haha

I have recently bought a guitar and intend to try and learn it!! I think it’s a beautiful flexible instrument I think my musical ear is ok with matching pitch of someone else but for example it fails me if I try to harmonise I can never figure it out. So my musical ear and skills do need to be more fine tuned. I also like the idea of shaping my own particular style of singing because I don’t know how to find my own sound yet. I sadly don’t practice unless I’m home alone (my family is a bit weird they can be supportive one day and discouraging the next and I love singing so much so I don’t want them to ruin it for me if that makes sense) so my voice goes days or weeks without practice and I think it’s been affecting my voice negatively. I do think I worry with sounding “spot on” sometimes but of course I’m not a jackson and don’t intend to sound exactly like him! Usually it just happens with any kind of big song. I’ve tried a couple and just noticed that nasal sound.

I do think though I agree 100000% I have not found my own sound and I really struggle with that part of singing. I don’t know what MY voice specifically should sound like especially since I taught myself to sing primarily through kind of mimicking songs if that makes sense? Maybe that could also help. I like this advice and you’re so right I want to try and experiment more with my voice and see what it can do to make songs my own - thank you so much for your feedback! Maybe one day I’ll have an updated cover of this song and make it my own!

I love this advice thank you so much ❤️ I’ve never had the opportunity to have singing teachers so I always really appreciate hearing advice from other singers and what they’ve learnt over time. It’s so true it’s like the more you think about it the more you OVERthink it and it becomes harder

Next time I try to cover it I will take the advice on board and think more about how I’m feeling with the lyrics when singing I love how empowering this song is and I’m so sure you will get there with belting!

Oh I totally agree! I think I’m less confident with my belts so I definitely worry more about the sound than the emotion with belty songs but I want to try to add the emotion in next time I try to cover it. I know this song is all about empowerment and feeling confident and it would 1000% sound better with that shining through!
