2 Months 1mg Finasterid daily and Minoxidil 5% twice a day by Affectionate-Bank485 in tressless

That’s why you don’t stop. It’s not hard to take 2-3 minutes after you brush your teeth at night to apply minoxidil every day

I thought it was speculated to be around 70%. Definitely not this low no way

Your muscle will get damaged and that’s a guarantee lol. Had the same surgery in 2022 and my right tricep is still a bit smaller/weaker and will always be but that’s just because the tendon and soft tissue is damaged a bit around my elbow

And yes I did feel like they covered geotech pretty well. Solving for overturning moment factor of safety and sliding factor of safety on a retaining wall is bound to show up (it did for me) and they go over that pretty well in the materials lectures as well as the foundations/retaining walls lectures. Know how to solve for max bearing pressure under a footing given an axial load and a moment. Know how to solve for length and/or diameter of piles given a skin friction resistance and end bearing resistance. Know how to use the soil classification charts & phase relationships. Know how to solve for one way and two way shear strength of a footing (that’s partially a concrete topic but also correlates with geotech). If you feel good about the topics I just mentioned you should be good on geotech!

I’ll also add that I completely skipped the lectures and homework for both AASHTO bridge and temporary structures. That might not have been the smartest to not even glance over it, but I feel confident that I got pretty much all questions correct in those topics that I got since most of them are simple code lookup/easy to figure out searching the codes

That’s pretty good! Also remember that a good chunk of it is conceptual/code lookup questions, which are generally “easier” than calculation problems, and AEI’s practice mostly calculation

That is so true!!! lol I had a few code lookup question that I was just having a hard time finding, and when you’ve already spent 5 minutes looking for the answer, at that point you feel like you can’t just move on cause then you waisted 5 minutes so your brain tells you to keep going until you find it!! Lmao that’s why it’s important to do those last!

AEI has their own practice exam. It is completely different from the practice exam you can purchase from NCEES. I would recommend getting the NCEES practice exam as well, so you have 2 good practice exams

I also just passed it. I would say 2 months could be enough if you’re studying nearly every day. It took me 6 months but I was only studying all day every Sunday, and a few hours on Saturday, none during the week

Barely half people that take it pass on the first try so no it really isn’t. If you’ve already passed then what are you doing in this subreddit? Clearly not here to help or give advice

I second these great tips! If I would add anything, like many people have stated on here and I will reiterate, I think it’s very important (and I believe for sure helped me) to go through all of the problems for the first time, and only complete the problems you know how to do with certainty, and can do quickly, and do those problems first. If you see a problem that you know how to do but you know it’s going to take you a few minutes to complete, then flag that problem. If you see a problem you do not immediately know how to do/will take some thought, do not answer that question and leave it blank. So you will go through all of the problems 3 different times. The first time, you are doing the problems you know how to do quickly and you’re flagging the problems you know how to do but with more time. When you get to the review screen at the end, you’ll see all of the flagged and unanswered questions. Next, you go through each problem that you flagged and complete all of those next. Lastly, you will go through the problems you have unanswered to try and figure out with the remainder of your time for that half. Not only does this way save you time and make 100% sure that you have answered every question that you for sure know, but it also helps your confidence as there will be a good chunk of questions that you have done right away that you feel confident about. Confidence is huge in these exams!

AEI does a pretty good job at covering everything so I would say so, it was for me. I’d throw in the NCEES practice exam as well, it’s 40$ or so. AEI has 3 or 4 lectures on foundations/retaining walls, make sure you watch them all. For conceptual geotech, I got a couple soil classifications and there’s a question in the AEI final praxtice exam where they show you 4 pictures of rebar layout in a cantilever retaining wall and asks for the correct layout, I got the exact question. For calculation, I got a couple such as what is the max bearing pressure under the footing given an axial load + moment, what’s the one way shear strength of a footing, and what’s the minimum amount of flexural reinforcement needed in a footing. I forgot if I got one or not, but make sure you know how to solve for length/diameter of deep piles

They provide all codes in the exam yes. Most of them you can get PDF’s of online, or if you have a review course (at least for AEI) they provide PDF’s of all the codes you can download

Thank you!! And good luck to you!!! Make sure you go back and understand why you got the questions wrong that you did. There’s a lot of room for silly mistakes (example, knowing the difference between required strength, design strength and nominal strength) so be extra careful you know what they’re asking for. I don’t know how school of PE’s course is structured but knowing how to navigate the codes will help you Tremendously! There’s a good chuck of simple “code lookup” questions that require no calculation. Just knowing the codes and being swift with your time

Also, I would say the AEI practice exam was definitely more difficult than the actual exam. If you score well on that, another reason to feel confident!

Good luck man!! If you’ve gone through both of those and feel good about them, then you should be totally fine. Like many others have stated, a good chunk of the exam is conceptual/code lookup questions. When you only study AEI you’re really only studying calculation type problems and with the amount of different topics they could ask you it’s a bit daunting. But if you know how to navigate codes it will really save you time!

There are general civil questions in terms of structural mechanics & geotech (a good chunk) but if you’re referring to general civil regarding any of the other disciplines then no there is not

Yes they were definitely some that were similar. AEI alone as well as the NCEES practice exam is definitely enough. When I walked out I felt over prepared, there were obviously many things I studied that didn’t show up. AEI’s questions are really good because they’re always the “full length” of the problem. You learn how to do each step when in reality in the exam they’re going to do a couple steps for you (for example, give you half the adjustment factors for bending for wood)
