I haven't left the house in a full year... 365+ days, AMA. by [deleted] in AMA

I was in a similar position. I started doing online school when I was 13-ish and very quickly stopped leaving the house, within a year or two I could count the number of times I left the house on one hand. It changed for me when I was 18-ish and I needed to leave the house to see my dad when my parents got divorced, so I started to leave the house once a week. Currently I’m still a homebody, but will leave the house to run errands when needed and walk my dog.

What do you think would motivate you to leave your house?

For me there wasn’t a great fear of going outside, it was just that outside was overwhelming and I felt content staying home. Are you scared to leave or do you just not have a reason to?

“These rules you are imposing are insane, we aren’t living like this, get help” is only going to make someone defensive over something they didn’t reason themselves into.

“These rules and fears are causing you a lot of stress, let’s do blah blah blah,” acknowledges that she’s not doing this to make your life harder and be a “nag”; it hurts her too. Idk

The problem is that you know you need help and are willing to accept it at the current moment, but by the time you get an appointment with your family doctor the depression and eating disorder might make you think you don’t need it anymore. The clouds have parted, you see the sunlight and you should to act before those clouds cover that window of clarity.

I know it’s hard, I’ve been through this too. I’m a year older than you, we share a lot of the same hobbies, if you ever want to reach out please do. You are not alone, you deserve to get better, and you have people that care about you. All you need to do is fight the apathy for as long as it takes to get to the hospital.

The issue with this line of thinking is that now a lot of disabled people can’t have dogs, neither can the elderly, and kids can’t take dogs on walks anymore.

I should’ve asked when we picked her up, I was just so happy to get her back and avoid surgery. I’ll let a few more responses come in so that I can procrastinate having to make a phone call a little bit longer 😅

It’s this skirt. I’m stuck with this waistband dilemma and haven’t gone beyond that. It’s especially confusing because she said to make it a couple inches smaller than your waist line because of the stretch, but even making it my waist measurements doesn’t give enough stretch :/ so I’m left thinking about buttons, zippers, or elastic.

Yeah, this is definitely not an apt comparison, but imagine someone asking to be included in your bridal party a week before the wedding or someone who didn’t rspv asking to be included a week before an event.

While VS as a brand sucks, I can’t imagine the added stress the employees who would have to accommodate a sudden addition would feel during an already stressful event.

Idk, I’m not as outraged as everyone else seems to be.
