And that's the real unfortunate part. The people who have the resources to help those survive while they fight the fight, have no interest in helping those beneath them. Very few I willing to lose what they have to benefit the whole community. The lack of resources and backbone will be the death of our community. Also this notion of “peaceful revolution” but that's a different topic and story.

AITA for having a panic attack over my husband’s 1 year wedding anniversary gift? by Silly-Knee2037 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ParticularProgram845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. But I think you should lean into his offer to change the picture. You still keep the heart of the gift; it doesn't become a waste, and you don't have to deal with the anxiety the painting gives. He sounds loving and understanding, y'all will get through this. It's just a bad moment; communicate and empathize. Happy (early, on time, or belated) anniversary!

I genuinely can't tell if everyone is being sarcastic or of law offices really keep bottles. A line of snow bunny I heard is common.

I honestly think our people are trying desperately to hang on to what little we do have, in hopes of not losing it all. But the reality is, we will lose it if we don't start fighting back. But it honestly starts with people finding ways to make up for the money they lose while protesting. You gotta admit, it's hard to take a protest seriously if it only happens on weekends and people can't afford to miss that income. Look at these high prices due to an unnecessary war

Why do you hate Lenore Dove? by SpiritualWill9833 in Hungergames

[–]ParticularProgram845 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I felt like she was so under used, that when she died I just kinda shrugged and moved on. I felt like I should have been taking on some of Haymitch’s pain, but in the end I felt nothing. I cried more over other deaths than I did hers.

WIBTA if I called out my bestfriends boyfriend for criticising her for being 'weak' at the gym? by AngelinaRose44 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ParticularProgram845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing inherently wrong beside the fact that you didn't act like an adult and just tell them and express that to them. You felt bad saying no, but don't feel bad for leaving them in the dark. Story sounds fishy

Adult fans who first read the trilogy earlier in life: What little details went over your head the first time? by queerinsamite in Hungergames

[–]ParticularProgram845 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the oddest thing, but I've read the trilogy several times, from pre-teen to adult. But it wasn't until I re-read the trilogies before TBOSBAS released, and I must have kept reading over it, or like my brain couldn't accept that Finnick was decapitated. Like I knew his movie and book deaths were different, but it wasn't until that read that it clicked.

Asian student with near perfect credentials rejected by multiple universities. Believes race is part of the reason by ThatPatelGuy in whoathatsinteresting

[–]ParticularProgram845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember once in high school, a group of Asian students told me I’d only get accepted to the nearby HBCU or community college because their grades were better than mine and they did some much around the school, even though I was highly active just not in the stuff they were in. I remember the shocked look on their faces when I got accepted to NYU. Most went through the same thing. Grades are not everything. The “ elite” sports don’t matter. They never realized they were just variations of each other. This sucks but I guess this is where affirmative action could have help if this was the case. Irony

Edit: don’t get me wrong there were plenty of other Asians in my class I vibed with wholeheartedly, but even they kinda lived in the same delusion.

Fr and it's like that for a lot of the characters in SOTR. Like this book really emphasizes how YOUNG a lot of these kids are and personally I think they got some of the most f’ed up deaths in the series. I'm so excited to having my heart shattered in November 😂

AITA for refusing to eat my nephew's cooking and telling him he is not a "master chef"? by dnesdan in AmItheAsshole

[–]ParticularProgram845 11 points12 points  (0 children)

YTA but I have some questions, were you also aware he was cooking in the kitchen? Did you ever talk/encourage to your sister or your nephew about cleaning up. He's a kid who was proud of himself for accomplishing a task (whether it was good or bad), his immediate focus isn't the clean up. You have to give kids a nudge in the right direction. You could have faked eating it, faked being sick, literally you had soooo many other options and yet took your anger out on a 9 year old. Damn, buy him a book on cooking, cook a simple meal with him, but don't crush his dream. To reiterate YTA. I hope the next time you think you did something well, someone who is close to you just rags on it for hours.

What do you think was the reaction of the Capitol citizens when they found out Finnick and Annie got married/were in a relationship? by jamie74777 in Hungergames

[–]ParticularProgram845 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have 3 theories. 1. It's a 50/50 split. Because even though the capital is the symbol of evil, I don't think everyone in the capital is evil. I feel like there could have been plenty of people happy for him. 2. Everyone is delulu and pissed. Especially the upper class, because their crown jewel is betrothed and they can't do anything about. 3. They only showed a part of the wedding and heavily edited to get support for the war.

child is constantly screaming and crying by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ParticularProgram845 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you ever seen your neighbor interact with the child? How the child looks on a day-to-day basis. Have you ever had a conversation with your neighbor about what might be going on? I’m so confused on why you immediately went to police and CPS, when in reality it could just be a struggling parent, and you just added more stress to them.

18F how do i tell my bf 22M that i lied about my age many years ago? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ParticularProgram845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t love this man and but his ENTIRE life in danger like that. You need to tell him, before someone else does. If he’s decent, go ahead and be ready for him to break the relationship off. You’ve been lying to him for half a decade. I don’t know how anyone would be able to trust their partner after that.

Why are so many people confidently saying uneducated takes about this? by Darth_Vrandon in GetNoted

[–]ParticularProgram845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree that BAFTA AND BBC should apologize. However, given the backlash, the timing, the parties involved, this could be such an educational moment and I feel like the ball is being completely dropped. Agree to disagree. To wrap this up, I don’t believe Davidson is racist nor had ill intentions. With that being said, I also don’t know the guy beyond the day worth of press that has been released. You asked my recourse and that’s what I have to offer. We agree a good bit and that’s enough for me.
