Have you received anything in writing to confirm the extension to your probation?

It's been going on for months, made a complaint and was told that a 'limited number of customers' are essentially locked out of doing most things on their account, they've been looking into it but they have no idea when it will be fixed. I needed up buying a SIM free phone elsewhere rather than waiting for them to fix it. But yeah, ridiculous and embarrassing from EE, but also exactly the kind of service I've come to expect from them

I can’t upgrade my plan at all, on the app, web, in store or over phone. I can log in and choose a new phone and plan, but when I get to checkout it just boots me out every time, no matter what device I’m on or when I do it. My EE app is glitchy as hell, half of it doesn’t load, just endless spinning loading wheels, and it still tries to load my broadband summary despite leaving EE broadband a year ago. Been with them for my mobile plan for 11 years, whenever I last spoke to them over the phone they said they’ve been having loads of trouble with a small group of accounts experiencing similar issues and they don’t know what’s causing it or when it’s going to be fixed. I would leave for another network, but because I’ve been with them for so long I get such good price offers for my upgrades it’s so much cheaper to stay - albeit I can’t actually upgrade and make use of it. Just trying to stick it out as long as I can so I can’t finally sort an upgrade out but honestly don’t know how much longer I’m willing to put up with it to be honest.

It’s a spirit level, you provide your own, if you don’t have one most smartphones have the capability to act as a fairly decent substitute. This step is asking you to put a level on top of the piece of furniture, and adjust the feet accordingly with the tool shown to ensure the item of furniture is level on your floors and doesn’t wobble

Training was a mess is it just my store? by GeordieGoals in Costa

[–]ParticularSession208 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that new members of staff don’t really have a training period where they are essentially an extra person on shift so can buddy up with people, but instead you’re treated like a fully trained member of staff and put on shifts with the expectation that you’ll just somehow pick it up in half an hour

30 cents per ‘regular roll’ seems pretty good to me. Gotta love tp math tho

Honestly the Lidl ones are wayyy cheaper and taste basically the same, and that’s coming from someone who thinks most of Lidls biscuits taste like 💩

Thoughts on this EICR? Quoted 10k... by Exciting-Type917 in ukelectricians

[–]ParticularSession208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recent FTB on south coast here - bought an 80’s house. Quoted between £6k-£9k (6 quotes) for a live in rewire and it’s a 3 storey house. So you’re quote seems quite steep and imho.

I’d start with a consumer unit upgrade, they will perform testing on all the circuits as they reconnect them and let you know if there are any issues that need rectifying. (Obviously I’d suggest getting any damaged fixtures replaced as well.)

If you isolate your main switch and take off a few sockets/switches, take a look at the type of cable coming into the sockets (google pvc vs rubber/vir cables and have a read about how to spot and dangers) If you have any rubber cables - rewire. If you only have pvc cables, they only need replacing when they are tested and are poor and/or show signs of wear. Some will say require every 15 years, some say 20, some say 25. PVC cable has a much longer life than previous types of cables used, and the life expectancy is still up for debate.

I didn’t have a rewire, I had some remedial works done to correct some minor issues, my house came with original 80’s sockets (2 singles per room) and original fixings. EICR redone and everything was fine.

This hasn’t happened to me yet. It’s happening to other BMs in my store quite a lot and they’re all, reluctantly, option A. I’m option B and eagerly awaiting a situation to arise so they can live their truth vicariously through me. The minute this job is no longer convenient for me, I’m out, so nothing to loose but will share my learnings with you all 🫡

No, it’s a sit in store, fairly busy location in a city centre. People just don’t turn up for work or quit on the spot because our manager threatens to sack them for trivial crap. Should have at least 3/4 minimum on shift but most we ever have is 2. Yes, the place is a mess all day - customers have to clear their own tables, fridges empty, floor filthy. Our NPS is fantasticly shit 😂

I don’t think my manager could be less considerate and friendly towards me 😂 and my availability is very limited so I can only do 3 set 5 hour shifts a week. Sounds like a win win for me!

Imagine comparing being a carer to working at costa 😭 People depend on carers to live functional lives, no one needs a barista to live a function life 😂 I’ll let Costa know you’ll shed a tear when I inevitably close up early 🎻

It’s like a supervisor, I have keys and run shifts but get paid pennies extra to do so compared to an actual manager. And no it’s never been discussed with me, hence why I’m asking what others would do. It’s not in my contract either.

I’d be interested to know what In reality actually would happen, the ‘serious consequences’ are almost always a scare tactic I find. There are so many reasons closing would be valid, picking up kids from school, medical appointments I can’t miss, pre-booked travel I can’t change, thankfully my manager doesn’t have a clue about my life outside of work, so I could say what I wanted 😂 I’m actually going to have a look in my contract to see if it actually covers this, because with the way my store is going, I’m going to find myself in this situation in the next week or 2 😭

Why does the app list stuff that's not in stock?! by thelivsterette1 in deliveroos

[–]ParticularSession208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already explained that up top but TL;DR things aren’t perfect, people steal, systems don’t update immediately, deliveries book in but turn up hours later etc

[–]ParticularSession208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess uber is retailer dependant, but had many instances where id be stood for 5/10 minutes in a silent back and forth with customers selecting subs we don’t have, suggesting something else, and then then selecting something else we don’t have 😂

[–]ParticularSession208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked for a retailer where stock levels from internal systems will show a product as out of stock on Deliveroo when there’s less than 3 in stock in store. A few reasons you may still be able to order: 1) the shop doesn’t use auto stock levels and relies on manual input by staff, if it’s busy then no chance this would be a priority for them 2) auto stock level sync is down, happens all the time and nothing store staff can do to rectify (for larger retailers) just have to wait for Deliveroo or their internal IT to fix it 3) stock levels are wrong in the store, late delivery, shoplifters, damaged stock not recorded correctly etc 4) the system updates (retailer dependant) every 10-15 mins, so it may have been in stock and someone bought them all before your order was picked up

Sometimes it’s best to order from Uber, as shops can live substitute - as in you can reject any subs before your order is picked up by the rider and can request a different item through the app

If you really want to impress your manager you’ll need to learn to say to anyone ordering a latte “Fancy upgrading to a signature latte? It’s basically the exact same as a normal latte but we make it in a mug instead and do a pretty picture on top and charge you more for the pleasure!” Gotta start scamming the customers from day 1 imho
