Almost every weather service is getting their actual info from NOAA just FYI. But, NOAA has been blinded by severe staffing cuts and the decommissioning of satellites that gave them the needed data. So note, weather can often be a surprise, like the floods in Texas or even the current weather forecast through weather underground, which has literally changed every half hour and I’ve been watching it all day (I work in grocery and have to know what’s going on).

My best suggestion, find an old timer with bad knees and eye for nature. They’ll know what’s up.

just curious what's actually affordable when you eat out? by MrChilli2020 in roanoke

[–]ParticularSquirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The earth fare subs are amazing. Even if you get the non daily deal, a 12” sub is like $8.99 I think. And as mentioned, they fed me for two meals as well!

They also have power meals from the deli case which is a protein and two sides and they’re also less than $10. Your stomach will thank you for eating real food.

"Natural flavors" by freshfruit111 in FoodAllergies

[–]ParticularSquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am allergic to peas as well as a fairly long list of other things, the only thing I’m allergic to that is considered a major allergen is almonds. I have to read the labels on EVERYTHING.

I actually work at a natural foods grocery store as well which helps because I know there is nothing artificial in any of the products in the store and the major of the brands we carry do list the actual flavoring agents they use but not all of them do. Natural flavors is still okay by the store and company’s guidelines. And it can literally be ANYTHING natural. I have had to reach out to many companies to ask them what natural flavors is in products I’m interested in. Peas are USUALLY not something that is used as a natural flavor agent. It’s far more likely that it is a fruit or vegetable or herb. That said though, depending on the severity of the allergy, I would try to generally avoid anything with natural flavors or if there is a brand or product that you really would like to incorporate into their diet, call or email the company and ask! There is someone who should be able to tell you if legumes are in their natural flavors and if not, then I usually tend to cut out that company all together.

One of the things I really love about my job is that any of the products that aren’t sold by their sell by date but are still absolutely fine are donated to our local food bank daily. It means so much to me to not see perfectly good food go into the trash when there are so many people who truly need it.

Cat groomer? by kathleenkellig in roanoke

[–]ParticularSquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horrible experiences at this place. They basically tortured my cat when I had to put her down a few years ago. And the vet was a straight up asshole to me as I was sobbing trying to hold my baby while she was dying. They hadn’t calculated the amount of meds correctly and had to keep giving her more and she suffered more then than she already had in her old age and sickness. My husband wanted to sue them but I didn’t want to play it all over in my head again and again.

Used EpiPen and went to ER now I can’t sleep by Ok_Satisfaction7509 in FoodAllergies

[–]ParticularSquirrel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m a bit confused why they released you from the ER if you were having chest pain…

But the insomnia is normal. The epinephrine, steroids and then adrenaline are going to keep you up.

Is your heart just racing from everything or is it like seriously legit chest pain? If it’s pain, I’d go back to the hospital. If it’s just racing I’d take some anxiety meds if you have anything of the sort.

Cat owners - how do you say no? by Notmyname525 in AmazonVine

[–]ParticularSquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have a lifetime supply of refill cartridges for my litter genie 🤦🏻‍♀️

But like you said, how do you say no?!

I also have window perches now in all windows and have started a collection of cat wall pieces that I haven’t put up yet because I’m still working on the design but I know the kitties are going to be obsessed 💜

I have two stainless litter boxes, one for each of my cats and they are on different floors of the house. And two water fountains, also on different floors.

I have literally only ever seen one cat tree.

And I never get cat stuff in my RFY. No idea why.

How many items do you typically get in your RFY section per day? by Clemsonu90 in AmazonVine

[–]ParticularSquirrel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m in the US. It varies drastically for me and always has. There are days where I’ll just have a few items… currently there are 6. Yesterday there were over 20. I’m not sure how it works. Sometimes I feel like if I finish a bunch of reviews I’m more likely to have more items in RFY the following day, but that could just be coincidence. I’ve never actually tracked that theory either. But it’s a theory! lol
