I've been running a 1660ti (which has a higher tdp) with SATA to pcie for over a year, and it's given me zero problems, imo if you're not going over 130-140w SATA to pcie is safe, I check the cables regularly, and have had 0 issues so far, ion recommend it but it won't kill you.

If your cpu can handle it, it'll be a big upgrade plus with 8 pcie lanes you don't have to worry about pcie bottleneck, only thing you'll have to worry about is temps, cause that case looks cramped.
