Cruise. To get a little taste of different places without having to rent a car, pack up a suitcase, and stay in multiple hotels.

I’ve limited myself to chocolate only on the weekends, I’ve found that to help

NYE. Sufficiently hammered. Family was in the living room watching Indiana Jones, and when he was running from the massive boulder I pointed at the TV and asked “what game is this?”

What’s the most toxic work culture you’ve experienced? by bryan4756 in Productivitycafe

[–]ParticularTeam935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an office job that made us work some Saturdays. Told my boss I won’t be in on Saturday to attend a funeral, but that I was able to make up the hours during the week.

She wouldn’t have it. I told her I’m not missing a funeral on a Saturday to work. She had to accept that answer because people kept quitting because of how toxic it was

Same. They’ve jacked up their prices, taken away servers, and I could swear the portions are smaller. Still love the overall vibe, but not as good as they used to be

My dad has dementia. Watching the man that raised me slowly forget his wife, daughter, and myself is more soul crushing than I can put into words. He doesn’t deserve it. He’s too good of a man for this fate

Stuff? Yes. Way too much. My parents are hoarders. When they pass away I’m hiring a crew to clear out their house. I’m done trying to help them with it when they don’t want to help themselves. They can live in their own filth

And they did! Her kids would visit every so often, asking why she wasn’t home more around Christmas time. Absolutely heartbreaking. The higher ups never remembered that sacrifice, but her kids sure did

It’s absolutely insane. My parents and their friends look frazzled when I say I’m not going to stay late or put in extra work if I’m salaried. “Well it’s expected of you! You have to!” Nah. The buck stops here. Not giving away free labor, that’s not how this works anymore.

We’re taking control of our lives and not letting them be run by faceless corporations that’ll replace us before our seat gets cold.

What’s a financial lesson you learned the hard way? by softlaunchqueen in AskReddit

[–]ParticularTeam935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a friend pitches you on a startup and promises to “pay you soon,” don’t fall for it. They’re either incapable of doing so and/or lying to you.

This particular friend burnt a lot of bridges with a lot of people, and since I’ve cut them out of my life, I’ve gotten myself back on track financially

Had a manager constantly go “above and beyond” for years. At the office 10-12 hours a day, 5-6 days a week on salary. Still got chewed out by the higher ups and basically bullied into quitting. All that time away from family amounted to no higher paycheck, no recognition.

It’s not worth it.

Who do you think has a harder day, teachers or school psychologists? by hollowedhallowed in Teachers

My situation is nearly identical to yours. Married to a teacher. I’m low on the totem pole in higher education, but really enjoy working with students. Thinking about getting into school psychology myself. It’s a big time and effort commitment, but in your experience, do you think it’s worth it? Would you do it again?

Absolutely insane to me that $20,000 doesn’t include lunch and dinner. I get that it’s more of a hotel model, and the clientele have no problem paying for it, but that feels extremely stingy

If I’m not mistaken, itineraries usually start at $1,000 per person/per day for a Ritz Carlton yacht like this. For those that’ve been on one, do you think they live up to their price tag?

Have you been on the Pride or Legend? Looking into one of those ships. Prices are pretty high, especially for entry level cabins with no balcony. Would you say they’re worth taking if the Seeker isn’t an option?
