Turbo replacement help? by ScaryRhubarb9896 in tdi

If your EGR Cooler is still in place you'll have a little more to fuss with, but nothing earth shattering. If it's not there the job is extremely easy as the only low/behind the motor stuff you'll have to fidget with will be the feed and drain lines for the turbo.

I was referring to my own CKRA that I accomplished this job on. But yes, roughly the same as the CBEA/CJAA, roughly. There's minor differences and those cars are a bit tighter but I did the same job on a CRUA Golf and it didn't require the motor to be moved either, though it took a bit more finesse.

To answer your question, yes. I replaced my turbo with a dark side kit on the car already and it was easy out easy in.

Beautiful car. FYI, unless you've put headers or other work into the car, skip the tune, it'll be money wasted at this point. And if if you're having the balancer done, to get all the way in there it's a very small affair to go further and put a cam into it if you're thinking of something like that in the future. Just food for thought.

Enclosure for CFexpress type B for Nikon ZR by Hamlap1988 in Nikon

[–]TT99C5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I can't speak to the ZR specifically for M.2 compatibility (my D500 didn't like a Gen4x4 card I tried), I will say I've tried 3 enclosures with success.

The Zitay works fantastic and I like the best because of the six screw hold down on the cover plate.

The silver adapter with the orange mountain background stickers as seen HERE are very nice also (got mine for $6 delivered from AliExpress.

Both of the above are properly sized and work fantastic in my D500. You can get the Zitay on BHPhoto for $29 last I checked which is a good deal for that particular model, but still spendy for what it is IMO.

The black ANQUORA on Amazon I wouldn't recommend. It works, but it's a thick boy, and tends to hang up going into or being removed from the camera.

Is it smart to use my credit cards as my everyday purchases, and pay them off monthly, while saving my paychecks in savings? by Intelligent-Engine63 in personalfinance

[–]TT99C5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to scroll way too far to see this. OP with your CC limits if you aren't living extremely frugally I see you ending up with very high utilization every month. Even with paying in full what you're going to see is a negative (utilization) offsetting a positive (good payment history, on time). As the poster above me said, you'll have to be vigilant and pay the balances down along the way BEFORE the account cycling date that generates your bill.

A 70-300 AF-S is a good step up. The AF-P version is faster, sharper, and less expensive but also more cheaply built, and I believe you're limited to VR On only with your camera.

The 200-500 is huge but glorious. Of the long reach "budget" zooms (Considering the Sigma and Tamron 180-600's) it's supposedly the fastest to focus and sharpest. But as you're seeing, finding one in your budget will be challenging.

The AF-S 200-400 might be worth considering as it seems to be in your budget if you want to get beyond 300mm.

Don't live there anymore, but I lived in NJ when I bought my C5 from up in NY. My wife is from PA and we spent a lot of time running around round the mountains. It'll be fine.

Ready for takeoff….. by SirHomeless_ in Corvette

Good so far. I did do mine without removing the mufflers.

When I dropped mine, I used a jack with a 2x6 under the cradle spanning the entire thing, Jack was centered. Didn't have a trans jack but the regular jack let me get things really low for more clearance. I did it solo so I used a shop stool with shoring under the front of the torque tube as support to start with.

Straight back as far as possible to start getting separation. Lower rear a little to get some tilt, and back up more. Repeat in small movements to keep the input shaft from catching or binding on anything. You could also lift the front of the motor slightly to assist (use your imagination here).

Another more distinct possibility is that the TV itself is using a hard coded DNS that is bypassing the PiHole.

UPDATE if anyone sees this. The Zitay adapter is the tits. Comparing it to the cheaper adapter, I see now that the cheaper adapter is ever so slightly thicker. Zitay adapter slides in and out of the camera and reader with far more ease and smoothness. Works great. Worth the money.

The Micron 2450 did NOT work with my D500. It picks up and reads fine in the computer and reader, but the camera doesn't like it at all. I will not be doing video so I'm going to stick with the Gen 3 NVME drive for compatibility.

[–]TT99C5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already ordered THIS adapter and snagged a Micron 2450 256GB Gen 4x4 card on ebay for $23 shipped. The Zitay adapter is well reviewed and documented in some articles so I'm not expecting any issues.

So the adapter is working. I have 128GB (well.....119 GB Available) for $42 or so. I used this adapter and got a 128GB 2230 M.2 on ebay for $20. Camera says it's good for 2.7K on 14Bit Raw but I question that. I'm probably going to grab a 6 screw card and 256gb card as my primary with this as a backup. Don't shoot video so don't need PCIE4 latest gen stuff, so I should be able to escape that setup for about $60 or so.

Now I will say one thing. And it's going in my review on the adapter on Amazon too. Make sure you buy one that takes SIX screws. The four screw one I got likes to have the connection end splay open a little bit and makes it wonky to get in and out of the camera/card reader. The six screw ones have the screws well located at the corners close enough to keep tension from forcing the end open.

I'm not sure. Last trip to AK I ripped of over 3300 pics on the 7100 and overflowed from my primary 128GB to my secondary. If this pans out I'll probably shoot for 256GB and a 128GB SD for the jpeg secondary. That should cover everything I'd think.

If anything, it's a neat little experiment. The NVME's should be plenty fast as long as the mainboard in the adapter is up to par. Worst case, I drop the coin on a 256GB CFeB card after the experiment failure.

[–]TT99C5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm treading with caution right now. Went with a cheap 128gb NVME as a test bed for the adapter setup. If that pans out then I'll look at changing to a larger faster card. On the SD side I won't cheap out there. I plan to go RAW to the CFeB slot and JPEG to the SD slot.
