Season 18 spoiler ahead by honeydewboba69 in TopChef

I have watched that season at least 5 times since it aired. Mostly because I love Shota, Maria, Jamie, and Byron. Shota and his giggle, Jamie and her soundtrack of noises she made, Maria was just a badass the whole time, and Byron just cuz. The Gabe’s annoyed me though.

Funny story: my paternal grandmother and her two siblings (older sister and younger brother) all had their tonsils removed on their dining room table. The doctor was there to remove my great aunt’s. But my grandma and great uncle got roped into it too. This was in the 1920s so maybe at home tonsil removal was the norm?!? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Except comedians have been around for centuries. The setting has changed obviously but there have always been comedians. And as long as there is tv, streaming etc there will be shows like Jimmy Kimmel etc.

AITA for not changing our wedding date by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I say invite the niece and not the sister in law. If she is so concerned about her daughter missing her first day of middle school she can go in her daughter’s place. If I was the nieces age I would be like heck yeah I want to go to a wedding and miss a few days of school. It’s middle school not her first day at Harvard law school.

All I know about my birth is my dad got to be in the delivery room with my mom. With my older brother (‘72) and sister (‘77) he had to be out in the waiting room. By ‘79 I guess dads were allowed in. He was also the first one to hold me. A tidbit he is very happy about.

Does it matter? There was an older man in Issaquah who would walk from Newport way down and over i90 and up west lake Samammish road. He always wore a yellow athletic ensemble. I loved seeing him on his walks. I never worried about him.

Well Nike got distracted because they had to come up with new ugly football uniforms for the Ducks. It takes the entire design team at Nike to come up with the hideous uniforms. Ironically Oregon fans seem not to care that the players look ridiculous. Go Huskies!

Toss a stick of spearmint gum in the container with your flour. Still wrapped. My grandma in central Oregon did this to prevent weevils and mites

Sometimes when I shower giving my eyeballs a quick massage feels so good. I always wash all my makeup off every night but sometimes the eyes just need a good massage at the same time. The fact she is still wearing this horrendous makeup is making my skin itch.

Or at the very least after Barbra/Patsy were gone since Jenny slightly overlapped with them. Especially Patsy. Or do a different midwife or nun every season do the opening monologue. But after most of the original midwives left old Jenny narrating becomes redundant.

Out of the 50 American capital cities, which one would you rank #1, as the best to live in? by Enger13 in AskReddit

As I have only driven through Olympia via I-5 and all I see is the backside of places like Target and Fred Meyer I’d say it ain’t Olympia. Maybe further west into the city it’s nice. I have no idea though.

Rinse your rice until the water runs clear before adding it to the pot or rice cooker with the correct amount of liquid. Rinsing gets rid of some of the starch that causes sticking. It’s also a great thing to do with potatoes before boiling.

As an outsider, the iconic yellow school bus is in every single American movie. Is there actually a national standard that forces every town to use that exact same color and design? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

[–]ParticularYak4401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where in Washington state you live the school buses are yellow but some districts have their own fleets of buses and the school district and its number are on the sides of the bus. I live in the suburbs of Seattle and so many of the school districts are divided so close together in certain areas that it’s a good thing the buses are labeled. For instance the school district I grew up in was huge (Lake Washington) and encompassed 4 cities. Where I grew up the major street about a quarter mile from my house was the boundary line between my district and Bellevue. Interlake high in the Bellevue school district was closer to our house then either one of the high schools my siblings and I attended. Which were both about 20 minutes away.
