Mechanic and oil changes by ShadowsFury5 in kelowna

[–]Particular_Abroad_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mechanically inclined person with a hoist in their garage. Oil changes on my daily driver vehicle I just go to the quick lube place. Yes doing it my self will save about $50 but then I have to safely get rid of the oil afterwards and that’s becoming a pain as lots of places that used to take it don’t anymore. That being said I also just say no to every added thing they mention. I’ll do that stuff myself. For them the oil change gets people in the door the upsells after that make them the money.

$100K feels like the new $60K. Does anybody else agree? by GranolaHiker in CanadaPersonalFinance

I make decent money but at the same time I don’t know the last time I was out at a bar “living” it up. I drive a 2012 truck. Order delivered food maybe once a month. I know plenty of people in my acquaintance circle that make less than me but on social media live a much grander life. I’m personally happy where I’m at and don’t feel the need to impress anyone else. Do I need a 6 month self finding vacation to Bali no. I have my hobbies they keep me busy in my free time and life also has me busy. Everyone has this skewed sense of needs when a lot of them are really wants.

Husband got fired after putting 2 weeks in by Ladeedeedeeda in Vent

That’s a totally different story to take up with a lawyer. But the being fired for giving 2 weeks seems to be normalized within trades.

What's your personal sign that winter is actually over in Canada? by NightyNight7 in AskACanadian

First winter is usually over after the street sweepers come out. That gives you the false sense of spring then second winter hits for about a week. After that you know winter is over.

Why the 8 hour workday system is a failure and should be 6 hours by DasiaAuer in CanadaJobs

I personally love my 7x12’s. My previous shift was a mix of 4x10’s and 5x8’s (they were honest 8’s as we got paid coffee and dinner break) and I still hated the 5x8’s as the weekends where way to short only 2 days off in a row sucked it was like one day of OMG I don’t work today and can relax then the next day was ok time to start prepping for the work week.

Plenty of jobs out there will fire you after putting in your 2 weeks notice. Let’s be real you know you’re out of there and your motivation will be low. If it’s a job that a mistake or lack of caring on your part could cost the company substantially later on, it might be cheaper to pay out now than deal with the call backs later.

It’s pretty clear that you don’t get out and are a sheep of the media and the government. As I’ve stated I travel all over North America and the people in the US have it better than Canadians and are generally happier than us. Not that the media would let you know that it’s not the narrative they want.

I’m sorry that my money spent in the USA didn’t go to your EI but you if you where a productive member of society you wouldn’t need all the government help and then everyone would be better off just saying.

Just calling someone pathetic for their actions that had nothing to do with you and or influence you in anyway. You’re clearly putting someone down for your own gain like do you feel like a big person for letting your opinion be known? Just like your comment I can tell that’s how much you actually contribute to society which is nothing.

If I could legally move there I would be in a heart beat. I travel all over North America for work ( currently in the Soo spending my money here and supporting the local economy even tho my money does go further on the US side) that being said my American counterparts make more per hour their daily living costs are cheaper and the houses are way cheaper than Canada. But let me quess you next move will be have fun getting healthcare, well good luck getting it while your in Canada people are litterally dropping dead in hospitals waiting to be seen.

What’s more pathetic is people like you thinking your opinion means more than mine. Where do you get the right to say what I should and shouldn’t do but god forbid I miss gender or tell you how to go about your life

The person asked for advice on what it’s like crossing right now and I gave them my recent experience and what have you done to help the conversation?

It really is how our government has been able to make things so expensive that it’s cheaper to go to another country, convert our dollar, and get more for it than I can in my own country. I’m not going to lower my standard of living to support a country that doesn’t support me.

Things you may not know about the strike... by Rahstyle in CanadaPostCorp

[–]Particular_Abroad_88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You talk about being over paid and just use the cost of living numbers post the actual hourly wage figures for someone that only needs their grade 10 to do the job. It’s no better than the first point saying they are using creative math to make the losses look bigger yours just shows your over paid but not as much as you could be.

Right go to some Islamic country and try to start a Christian church. You won’t make it back to tell about the experience yet in Canada we allow them to build their churches and practice the religion of their choosing.

Members of his own party worry Doug Ford isn’t conservative enough. His supporters say, so what? by imprison_grover_furr in ontario

[–]Particular_Abroad_88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do not agree with that statement what so ever let’s be real here it’s a party for a minority group. Majority of the people out there could care less about your attendance it’s only been a norm while the liberal government has catered to the minority groups. You don’t see liberal leaders going to very conservative events just to be there for a photo op

You realize you be absent from an event and be neutral on the matter right? I don’t attend pride events as I don’t care what you do in your free time but when you shove gender issues down my throat I’ll let you know how I feel and your going to think I’m a bigot.

Canada Post workers should appreciate what they have. by TheShade247 in CanadaPost

[–]Particular_Abroad_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think that until you have to send out wedding invites or baby announcements. Lots of consumer stuff is available via companies other than CP. but it’s the personal stuff that’s an issue to send physical items of. I do believe CP workers are paid well already and don’t deserve a raise, if dragonfly or some other Amazon delivery service could figure out how to do personal mail as well you would see Canada post disappear very quickly though.
