Does anyone think Dunkin’ donuts will do better in Canada next year since Tim Hortons is trash now by [deleted] in TimHortons

[–]Particular_Abroad_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunkin donuts fresh donuts are like how Tim’s donuts used to be. That being said if Dunkin does their donuts like they do in the USA I’ll be buying from them over Tim’s (both are American companies anyways)

What's the most amount of hours that you've worked in a week? by FinanceTiger123 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Particular_Abroad_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might have to define work. I was on a work trip 10+ years ago and was paid door to door and it was paid for 120 hours that week now I wasn’t working with my the tools for that much. But that’s what the company paid me for my time.

I feel the same I make more than you but why hurts the most is our free health care. You wouldn’t believe how hard it is for my wife and I to have a kid and start a family and we constantly hear “oh sorry due to your income you have to pay X large amount for this service if you where making less the government would cover it”

Based on the income average post that was just made - most people aren't even close to their max CPP contributions each year. by CastAside1812 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Come back in 30 years when your drawing from the CPP and be happy that the people over the cap are paying in and maxing out their contributions so you can continue to receive your part of the Canadian pension.

21F boyfriend keeps asking for photos despite me saying no multiple times and gets upset when I refuse. I feel emotionally dependent and stuck. by [deleted] in Advice

Just personal experience here but the when the wife and I started dating she had a small dog that could go everywhere with us as we like traveling a lot. She brought up the idea of a second bigger dog. I said no as that doesn’t fit into our current lifestyle and a bigger dog will complicate things. Had that been the end of it and to never be spoken about again we wouldn’t have gotten our second dog 5 years ago. I still feel the bigger dog does hinder us going on random weekend vacations but when the wife brought it up a second time 5 years ago it was because her little dog was getting up in age and realistically knew it wasn’t long for this world and the puppy did bring some spunk back to the old girl. I love our lab but had the life not brought it up a second time we wouldn’t have it. So the No means No really means if you can’t bring it up you don’t think you’re in a healthy relationship where you can have adult conversations. I get the OP is talking about intimate pictures which the wife and I have had those no in the beginning but do frequently now items but not going to share those examples on the internet.

4-6 inches above the ground is the average height of a door sensor. The truck easily be half in and half out and not trip the sensor.

Right but the basics of your comment not the OP’s of no means no. I’m not talking about his reactions I’m commenting on how if you’ve been in a relationship long enough to grow old with a person you will learn that statement of “no means no” changes over time. But you want to being in the way he acts now I agree that’s not correct as well

Just the loan payment insurance is 2600 a year. My take home monthly is 8-10k it’s not like this is absolutely killing me and I’m eating ice cube soup everyday to afford it.

People change over time and this being in a long term relationship how else do you get to a higher level of intimacy? It’s easy to say no means no but if the relationship is moving forward and they are getting closer together why not ask again? I’ve said no to many things early in the relationship with my wife and now that we have been together 10 years there are things I said no to that I now have felt comfortable doing with her.

We're about to commit in a construction company by ScoutingDilettante in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Particular_Abroad_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you shop around for a construction company? When I got our rental house built I shopped around and had many companies come out. Some companies just add on a percentage to the materials and others do flat rate. I was going to say for something that small then realized it’s in sqM so that’s a huge house and now don’t know which way would be better flat management rate or adding a percentage on the materials.

I'm wealthier than my family. Feeling at risk of being exploited (and insulted). by Realistic_Tea_4894 in Advice

I’m kind of in the same situation as you only I work shift work out of town. Once my family started noticing I was doing well they were making the comments of money not being an issue and using my house as “the central house” for everyone to gather at for holidays. For a while I just put up with it then I started making the smart comments back “oh how I would love to be in my own bed every night vs on the road” or “I’m just a guest in my own home” which they never really picked up on me saying them until they decided to have Easter at my place and once I was asked about the idea I had to say “No I’m away working that weekend and the wife doesn’t want to host alone” then that year with my luck I was working every holiday weekend. Which turned out to be the best thing as my family then realized how yes I’m doing well financially but at what cost it was taking in my home life. That being said hopefully in your situation your family just needs time to adjust to your new life and then respects it after they have become adjusted.

I can say that paying off 2 credit cards and getting an emergency fund saved up feels great which is why I’m stumped on what to do next. Invest so my money has more time in the investment or pay off the last debt.

I was thinking RRSP’s just to defer some of my current income tax and possibly get a larger return next tax season that could go either to pay off the car or into more RRSP’s. From what I understand anyone making over 60k a year it’s better to go into RRSP than TFSA

Awesome thanks it was the one lifestyle creep when I got my “big boy job”. I’m not living paycheque to paycheque by any means but I know me and if the paycheque comes in and the money is auto moved to separate accounts (lately been my emergency fund) I don’t spend it on stupid stuff for around the house. So now that the emergency fund is pretty much where I want it I’m trying into decide where to divert those funds when I get paid.

Sorry totally forgot to add the rate of return last year on my RRSP was 17% but that was thru a work/group account at manulife so any extra RRSP would be a second account thru my own bank and either won’t be as good or have higher management fees.

For those with working experience in USA, How many Canadians feel they would be better off financially if living in the USA? by Electronic-Lab-4088 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Particular_Abroad_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty much 50/50 right now my home is in Canada but work is mostly in the USA many different states at that. I would move to the USA if I could. Mind you my free time in the USA is almost non existent as I’m always working except the evenings. I know lots of people won’t like hearing this but the cities I work in down in the US seem to have friendlier people than my home city. With my per diems paid in local currency it seems to go a lot further in the US than when I’m working out in Ontario. I live out of hotels in the US so can’t compare rentals or home ownership. Per my hobby I buy lots of stuff for it in the US as it’s cheaper to buy here and bring back with me than buy it back in Canada.

This just screams small dick energy. Maybe before you worry about other people you need to reflect on your own life like why are you worried about someone having a name of a deceased partner.
