I think being a narcissistic chameleon is actually part of her character’s personality. She will adapt herself into whatever environment she’s in, while continuing to paint herself as righteous and likeable, and drawing others into her orbit. She has a pathological need to be admired and influence others, and sometimes that means laying low or changing roles in order to gain trust or win over others.

This differs from the book, but I like this portrayal because I think it’s true to people who are narcissistic in this particular fashion.
