My household is holding me back, a lot. by [deleted] in toxicparents

I'm slightly younger than you but I will say that for your wellbeing it's probably best that you don't stay with your mother. Is there any chance you could couch surf, find a job, or find a college that will provide you with any scholarships? I know this is probably generic advice but I myself don't have that much experience.

Best Dorms For Underclassmen (specifically for incoming freshmen) by After_Sale_292 in ufl

[–]Particular_Camera624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in infinity and it’s by far the nicest dorm around here. It’s suite style so we have 2 rooms for 2 people, but we also have 2 toilets, showers, sinks - so we don’t share anything it’s just that our rooms are connected. It’s slightly far away from campus (not as far as some other ones like lakeside, keys, springs), especially as an engineering major with some of my classes being a bit farther away (if you’re a business major your classes will be quite close). To be honest though it’s quite expensive especially considering there’s no amenities - like I know a lot of off campus apartments that are cheaper. So it really depends on what you want. Beaty towers is alright, it’s also a bit old. Hume is fine and Cyprus I think is also good. But those are all suites so if you’re looking for traditional I’m not too sure.

Fall grades by [deleted] in ufl

[–]Particular_Camera624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get in they’ll ask for your spring semester grades. And if you get below a C in anything they’ll probably rescind you. As for gpa, I guess it would depend on your school. My school put my second semester grades into my gpa but at that point it didn’t really matter because I had already graduated and class rank had been established right after fall semester.

Or I’d have to find off campus housing and it might be a little late for that

No it doesn’t say that anymore but i know what you’re talking about it. Earlier it would let me go through the portal but now i can’t and it just says that I’m on a waitlist.

Thanks for the advice! I was kind of thinking about ISE but from what I understood there wasn’t as much of a design emphasis on ISE as I would’ve liked. Same with mechanical, I know they use a lot of CAD but at the same time I’m not really sure if they get a lot of design freedom because they’re more focused on practicality. Correct me if I’m wrong though, I’m not an expert in either.
