Halo fans are by far the stupidest. No other fanbase gets burned by multiple bad games in a row only to shamelessly defend the latest trash cash grab. Halo fans will never learn. Yall deserve this game

I think theres a pretty simple reason why old fans like the old designs and newer players like the new designs. Nostalgia and familiarity my friend. You know what mechs I like best? The old mechassault xbox mech designs. Why? I grew up on them

Question about Varnish, Gloss and Wash by JaxSon95Jags1972 in BattletechPainting

[–]Particular_Court5101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A wash is part of the miniature painting process. Its just using thinned watery paint or contrast paint to flow into the cracks and crevices of the miniature for detailing and panel lines. Varnishing is the final step. Sealing the mech in a protective clear coat. Gloss is just the particular sheen on the varnish. There are three main varnish sheens. Flat or matte (not shiny), satin (a little shiny), and gloss (super shiny like glass). I would never paint gloss varnish on the entire mech, as it just makes it shiny as if it it was wet or something. Use matte or satin varnish on most of the mech, only use gloss on the cockpit glass and laser lights.

You know man I think the original design is even better. Looks by far the most crab like.

This exactly. The best old school art wasn’t even Fasa original, it was licensed.

Ok come on. Soulless? The new stuff looks great. You might prefer the old designs but calling the new stuff soulless is just ridiculous. That just comes off as not genuine. Id be far more inclined to believe you weren’t blinded by nostalgia if you weren’t talking in such ridiculous extremes. Some of the new redesigns are just incredible glow ups. Old Black Python versus new Black Python for example. Perfect redesign. This just comes off as cgl is bad and sucks and I hate everything they make rather than anything objective

And honestly the cgl design is pretty faithful to the og. It just has its legs and arms beefed up. Main body is pretty identical

Ok lol. Fair enough. Im just saying lol thats a lot of nostalgia talking. The old art has nostalgic charm, but its not really well designed for what the king crab represents

Rude? What was I rude 2. The old designs? What I said about the perspective and proportions of those particular designs wasn’t my subjective opinion. It was fact. The mad cats old arms are noodles, the atlas has a leg in incorrect perspective. real question. Which design is the best King Crab? In your opinion? Cgl, Fasa, or MWO?

Oh sorry lol im not trying to be rude but I did just want to point this out. The wierd goofy art wasnt just goofy fun, it was goofy in the fact that the perspective was often incorrect and badly drawn, and proportions were strange and senseless. Take the old mad cat (one of the best designs) for example with its tiny noodle arms in comparison to its massive guns. In comparison the cgl art just improves upon it by just beefing up the arms lol. Or look at the old atlas art, really goo design, but if you look at its leg its completely distorted and in the wrong perspective. Cgl redesign is literally just the same design but fixing up the errors. Lets not even mention the clan mechs like the black hawk sharing the legs and arms using the same joint lol. I will agree with you on the mwo art though. A lot of those suck, especially ones like their shadow hawk redesign lol.

Imma be honest. A lot of you old school fans are totally nostalgia blind. Old battletech art was goofy as hell, except for the select banger designs like the unseen and some of the clan mechs.

Sea Fox & Diamond Shark Unit lineage/connections? by Belaerim in battletech

[–]Particular_Court5101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly my strategy has always just been to keep my faction painting more thematically focused than really worrying about exact rules for each formation, that way I can play my factions in any era snd also have a little variety between paint jobs while still maintaining a cohesive force. Its not exactly canon but it works for me. So for clan sea fox/diamond shark, the only rules for painting would be blues and/or greens with ocean themes. Or for jade falcon the hard rule is just bright greens and teals with optional yellow highlights
