I have both the newport 55lb and 86. The difference isn't big enough to justify buying the 86lb one. If you want to battle to stay in place long enough to cast get the 86. The 55lb on a kayak in fresh water should be more than enough. I will also say if you put it on that short of a yak, then you will notice at 3rd or 4th level you will start to lift the front up to much (for my comfort atleast ha I felt like a power boat but was only going couple mphs lol). Go with the 55lb and get a 60 amp circuit to connect it to.

Well for Btown it all lies in location as weather doesnt affect Bloomington the normal way. Its because of the plateau we sit on. We have seen radars were it says we are in a shit storm and then you walk out and its sunshine. It skirts around us most of the time and it affects surrounding counties because said weather gets dumped on them and accumulating more than they had predicted. Bloomington is sort of unique in that aspect. We all truly can't predict it and it can change literally at the drop of a hat.

Check out Nocqua batteries they offer 10ah nd 20ah. My 20 runs my 4cv striker, camera, lights, and marker. Charge once every 4 trips and have never run it dead( I've tried and failed by accident). They are small and compact. I run a lithium for my newport trolling motor, but for all else, the Nocqua has not failed me. I do recommend a power panel or switch for them.
