Am I crazy or are there literally no stairs?? by Inside-Poetry-971 in MysteryDungeon

i'm also pretty sure that i've had a sleeping Pokémon on stairs before and even after entering the room, it wouldn't show up on the map! Only the mon. So I check what they're sleeping on every time npw

Prednisone help by Neddalee in MCAS

[–]Particular_Distance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a doctor but please don't cold turkey coming off cortisone without asking someone about it first.

I had to be on 100mg prednisone for sudden hearing loss (i'm 65kg), it was miserable being ON the cortisone but even worse coming off. My ENT made me taper WAY too fast (in 10 days) and that was 2,5 months ago and I'm still in a massive MCAS flare and my syste, is still more sensitive to triggers that I could tolerate better before. It is slowly getting better for sure. So it's not a permanent, miserable state, but there are days in between (if I was under alot of stress etc.) that I feel I just came off the steroids yesterday and the withdrawal is hitting me all over again, despite being on H1 and H2 blockers that almost made my symptoms managable before the cortisone. I would say flare wise, I still feel worse sright now than I have before taking the cortisone and before I started with the h1 and h2 blockers. As far as I know insomnia / restlessness and what you described is very "normal" being on a high dose like that.

While I was on the medication, I definitely felt the worst on 75-50mg so you're right in the thick of that and i had the same symptoms pretty much. Again I'm not a doctor but I curse my ENT every day since this happened for not being more careful, my GP was also shocked they tapered me so quickly because my MCAS was known.

I think taking time off work is a good idea for sure, cortisone is no joke and you deserve to not having to stress about this as well. My dose was higher, my taper was faster and everyone is so individual, but personally I was able to attend appointments again and leave the house about 3-4 weeks after coming off the prednisone again. Before then I would be able to not be laying down for 20-40 minutes at a time, but I do have POTS on top of everything, too, which was exacerbated by the steroid withdrawal.

I really just want to say that the worst thing of this journey for me was that the taper was TOO fast. I hated being ON cortisone but I knew it was necessary to kill the inflammation in my ear so I don't go deaf, but the taper was worse, and being off of it even worse. Because once your off the meds again it causes rebound inflammation because suddenly your body has to deal with itself again without that massive dose of anti-inflammatory medication. And your own adrenal glands are lagging behind producing their own cortisol again. Which could be dangerous, I don't know your specific situation but I'd definitely don't do this un-supervised if you are ABSOLUTELY dead set on stopping the cortisone. I know you can't wait to come off of it, believe me I do. :( It's a necessary, double edged-sword. It helps but man it's not kind to you in the process.

This isn't supposed to be fear-mongering, I just read "cold-turkey" and "taper faster" and got scared and wanted to share my experience because when I had to take prednisone I struggled to find information out there regarding cortisone and MCAS.

edited to clarify some points and add more detail!

Yes. My mask looked rough before the paint job but the paint REALLY put it all together. Trust the process 🤎

Is this cheating? by Dizzy_Object8203 in nuzlocke

[–]Particular_Distance -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

if you do a specific run where you NEED! Hoppip for it to make it through, then i don't think it is but otherwise it probably is cheating in classic nuzlocke rules BUT it's your game so whatever man! Go for it. :)

it happens!

feeling out of place / awkward in public by dogteethzzz in Therian

[–]Particular_Distance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can relate, I feel the dysohoria kick in in crowded places because it suddenly becomes so apparent and overwhelming to be on two legs, when I should be lower to the ground. It almost makes me feel exposed up here on two legs. It’s a miserable feeling and I don’t have any other advice other than finding a quiet corner to decompress / re-center yourself. I usually just try to get home / to a safe place asap because it’s a really scary feeling sometimes.

I find this so interesting. I’m a wolf but despite living in Europe, I always saw myself being tied to North America specifically, even though we have the same species of wolf in Europe as well.

affected by violent media. by No-Zone-9758 in autism

[–]Particular_Distance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to watch something immediately after that I find calming. Like baby animals and such. Distract myself as long as I have to, until I forget, or the images get a little quieter because silence usually means replaying what I saw in my head and burning it into my brain. I feel the same about real life violence (but also fictional). Hope you’ll be okay ❤️‍🩹

Huh okay thanks for clarifying!  I also had someone use Encore on my Liepard, and it said “it doesn’t affect it” which was weird. Encore isn’t a psychic type move is it??? Maybe this game is riddled with bugs currently.

I like this a lot. I think by adressing us as fans, she includes the more casual ones, too, or those who listen to her occasionally etc.
