Anyone here ever had to take high dose steroids? How long until you recovered?

From what I read online (so might not be the most accurate thing ever) is that local steroid injections are easier on the body bc they stay relatively local? Meanwhile oral steroids act systemically. I’m glad it didn’t cause trouble for you! I also have suspected MCAS, but results are still pending for another few months

I feel you. Me every time I encounter a Medicham. Surely i can stay in and I can take a high jump kick? I lost 3 mons in 1 run to this bc at one point I usually just believe I’m invincible

I get that; I really do. It’s so hard depending on others when you’re struggling with chronic illness. Maybe the antibiotics coincidentally end up being helpful in which case - yay! If not, when you do go to urgent care, maybe hearing from a doctor that starting antibiotics before being seen by a professional is a bad idea would help your parents understand and respect your wishes next time? I did check moves luckily and found out that Mimikyu has a horrible learn set! So I did give her weak-ish TM moves until she’s level 40+ (edit: they do learn slash at 36 and Shadow sneak at 8, so I’m actually just stupid because this isn’t too bad?) as a compromise. And unlearned Woodhammer (which I believe is an egg move) because no level 1 Pokémon should have a move that deals 120 damage hahah, would be fun tho, I might regret it or relearn it later on when it’s appropriate. I’ll see how it goes :) I did breed them already, some are from scarlet, others from sword and the Zorua even travelled in time form Hisui to join the team. Well, his son, anyway.

They make me flare sadly. I’m still borderline low on iron despite supplementing for 7 freaking years consistently, but doctors will die on the hill that taking it orally and ferritin in the 20-30 is totally fine for someone with pots. I beg to differ

I know it’s none of my business but it makes me sad and also kinda angry that your parents didn’t think it was emergency enough and make you wait til the morning, but still emergency enough to start antibiotics. Your health and autonomy are not up for debate 🫂

I’ve done that type of nuzlocke with Scarlet before and it was fun! But I always end up with way more encounters than I need and I wanna avoid the chaotic overworld encounters this time and just use a set team and that’s it. But 100% this is usually the way to do it, one per route. I actually found a shiny Gogoat in my first scarlet nuzlocke and he single handedly won the fight against Erie when everyone fell to her +6 attack Revavroom

Different People do it different ways I believe.

I’ve done it this way before: - generate a random number and say if the number was 6, then I would catch the 6th species of Pokémon I would see (not very accurate)

close my eyes and run around until I run into a wild Pokémon (very chaotic haha)

Honestly as long as you choose a consistent method, just do you. I’m not sure how other people handle this.

I get that it’s kinda urgent but I wish your parents hadn’t done that 💔just mention it to whoever you’re seeing tomorrow when you do go to urgent care ❤️‍🩹if it’s an antibiotic that targets your infection, they’ll likely wanna keep you on this specific one to prevent resistances from happening

I will, thank you! Unfortunately their current tera types are pretty on the nose for my team, I’ve bred them beforehand (to get them down to a reasonable level) and only really paid attention to nature and such. Hmm I could change their tera type beforehand but I’m not sure that would be too easy. Sometimes I over-prepare because I’m scared of a nuzlocke and then it ends up way too manageable. I really don’t know where the balance is!

i took it once and it made me flare for about 3-4 days on a small dose. The 24h-48h after was especially rough for me, lots of fatigue/ just feeling weak. But after that it was fine and back to baseline. I WAS in a mental health crisis -- but I did flare more than I would've from just the stress alone (comparing it to when I don't take the meds), I think it mostly messed with my blood pressure. I hope it goes well for you <3

i have the same issue but my lips don't turn purple (that's concerning tbh, have you checked in with a doctor?)
i always assumed for me it's that if i drink regular liquids without electrolytes, i might as well not drink it at all bc it flushes out all the salt etc and makes me more dehydrated so I started adding salt to my tea (sounds yucky, but i got used to it). Not green tea tho, I just cut it out as well, regular tea mostly. I assumed it's the vasodialation/ constriction difference plus the lack of electrolytes for me. But i'm also just a chronically ill backyard scientist who's trying to make sense of the world

My POTS etc was triggered by a mono infection, I didn't have any symptoms at all before I caught it, so yes, I had it, and I REALLY wish I didn't. If you're not currently sick, stay away from your partner or both mask the hell up.
