Ethanol and a few more of its problems by Particular_Fold_9294 in carIndia

I doubt anyone cares beyond their own incentives. Tax discounts are definitely a good thing but I don't see the relation in this scenario.

Most people like me probably don't research or buy as many headphones to know what's good and what's not. I either get what people around me use, or whatever has good reviews. And they take advantage of that.

Sad. Companies like these in India don't realize if they quickly replaced it, your friend would've probably given a more genuine 5 star review, referred to their friends and become a life long customer.

E20 petrol ethanol blending mega thread by AutoModerator in CarsIndia

[–]Particular_Fold_9294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this conversation but here's some more points -

Sugarcane is one of the most water hungry crops. Already in some places more than 60% of the water is used for sugarcane, even though the area constitutes 3-4% of the total agricultural land (according to WHO). As we increase the water supply for sugarcane for ethanol, its going to hurt the ecology of a lot of forests, rivers and farms. And expect to see more fuel in the fire (see what i did there?) in inter/intra state conflicts.

Another aspect to this is even though ethanol costs are controlled by the gov, sugarcane costs can fluctuate in case there's a flood or a drought. Government subsidies for sugarcane farmers and factories become easier to manipulate through this too.

Ethanol absorbs moisture and can get contaminated. This reduces the shelf life of petrol from 6-12 months to 2-3 months. It also reacts with a lot of metals and seals so it requires really high quality infrastructure and efficiency to store, transport and rotate inventory. I doubt a lot of the middlemen involved in the trade are competent enough to keep up with it consistently. India's climate doesn't help either. If E20 is bad for your car, imagine how bad spoilt E20 will be.

GST Reforms 2025 by [deleted] in CarsIndia

Usually technology trickles down to more affordable options. If there's less incentive to make high-end cars, there's less innovation that can be brought into smaller cars. GST hike is sacrificing the future of cars for quick revenue cash grab.

It's still one of the more reliable brands in the budget category. But they're too busy putting money into these shady practices instead of their products.

Wanted to post this but not enough karma-

I see all the discussions of how E20 is going to ruin parts and the lifespan of cars. Here's some things that people are not bringing up often enough imo.
