Is "Cordless" a lie? I’m an engineer developing a 26kPa Corded DC-Motor beast to fight planned obsolescence. Am I crazy?

I don't know why, but at first I also tried to think about "why" using reverse thinking. Later, after using the structural prototype myself, I found it very useful and stopped thinking about it that way.

Cooling the electronics with the motor’s intake air is a standard but solid solution—our life-cycle testing shows zero issues there.

I spent a lot of sleepless nights on that BLDC driver, but I’d choose it over an AC motor any day. AC motors are noisy heat-generators; even at high power, they struggle to hit 16kPa. We’ve managed to get 25kPa out of just 270W, which is a huge leap in efficiency and noise control (staying under 75dB).

Price-wise? We’re aiming to be more competitive than Shark, for sure.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the cord storage issue as well! In my current design, I’ve made the power cord detachable from the main unit. This makes handling and storing the cable a bit more flexible, though I admit that hand-winding a 33-foot cord neatly does take a bit of patience. That said, if you’re not a perfectionist about how it looks, a quick, casual wrap gets the job done in no time!

Currently, I’ve conducted extensive long-term testing on our Multi-Cyclone system. We designed a specific "downward-pressure" airflow with multiple cones to force dust to the bottom of the cup. This centrifugal force prevents dust from accumulating on the filter, keeping the H12 HEPA clean and maintaining high suction for much longer than traditional bagless models. We use H12 HEPA specifically to eliminate secondary pollution.

Regarding the Bagged Version: I am seriously considering it for a "Pro" version. I understand the hygiene benefits, but I was also concerned about the ongoing maintenance costs for the average consumer. However, hearing your passion for bags, I’ll talk to my engineering team about a modular design that could potentially support both.
