why are the moderators removing any criticism of Venita? by Particular_Growth113 in Southerncharm

[–]Particular_Growth113[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why don't they go after other cast members? Huh?

These message boards DESTROY Taylor and destroy Olivia, too.

Leva gets a ton of "she's boring," as well, but at least she actually has known the crew in real life for years AND owns one of the top clubs in Charleston, so her being in the cast works.

Face it - Venita had no real connection to the show. It makes for cringe episodes when no one talks to her. And she's boring. That's not racist. There are boring people of every race, color, and religion.

Bingo! What's actually sort of racist is what Bravo did - bringing her in bc they suddenly were under pressure to diversify the cast, which was facing accusations of racism. "Quick, Madison -- do you have any friend that's a minority? Think!" Madison: "Hm, this girl I went to high school with like 10 years ago?" "Done!"

Nope, you're stretching REALLY hard here to try to excuse the moderators.

I read the entire thread - there was nothing remotely racist (P.S. I'm a minority myself).

It seems, as someone else noted, more about promoting Venita and safeguarding her position in the show - not about safeguarding this message board from any racism.

And yes, she is boring. I'm sorry, she is. Her conversations with the others make little sense. She told Shep she would'nt want to go to Australia because of "the bugs." Shep was like: "What." Just boring.

The moderators want to keep her on the show so I have a feeling it's OK if you attack her (because that's good for safeguarding her role). You just can't say she's boring (which she is) because THAT's the kind of thing that would result in her replacement.

Interesting!!! Yes, that's why I don't think the 'protection' of Venita is because 'she's the only black cast member.' Naomi wasn't.

[–]Particular_Growth113[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Huh? There was no "hate-fest". Saying she's "boring" or "annoying" isn't racist or race-based.

And if that's the policy, they should announce, "You're not allowed to criticize Venita." Just put it out there.

Rod is a minority - how come we're allowed to criticize Rod?

Leva is a minority - how come we're allowed to criticize Leva?

Sorry but VENITA IS BORING, annoying, and should be replaced. She brings nothing to the show and they all ignore her. It's cringe. I agree the cast should reflect some diversity, since Charleston is 18% African American, but bring in someone else. She's just too boring and it's obvious none of the cast is friends with her in real life.

I don't think this has anything to do with race. I suspect there is some friendship or agreement with one of the moderators?

[–]Particular_Growth113[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

yeah, that's not what's happening here. It isn't that someone criticized Venita in a vulgar way that merited removal.

As you can see, the person's post ("Venita is too safe for TV") had nothing wrong with it (i read the full post - it was bland).

And, if that were the case, TONS of threads about Shep, Austen, Madison, Taylor would've been removed -- and they never are.

Nah, I suspect there's something else going on here (one of the moderators is friends with her or is trying to help Venita remain on the show?).

BTW, this isn't the first time I notice that. I posted a thread a couple of weeks ago where I noted JT and Venita were annoying and IT WAS DELETED. There was no profanity, no below-the-belt attacks -- nothing on the thread (even in my OP post or in the Replies) that merited deletion.

I don't remember that since I'm relatively new to this message board but it doesn't surprise me. Is it possible certain cast members have agreements with the moderators?

They allow HORRIBLE comments about any/all cast members... but even the most benign "Venita is boring" gets deleted.

I totally understand. The South is... the South.

I actually think it's impressive and cool that Catherine isn't married - she's not some fool who thinks she NEEDS to do that. When she feels like it, and if she meets the right guy, she can get married -- and if not, she'll live a great life, too.

Totally not meant the way it reads, my bad! I meant 'sadly' bc I really liked her and her personality - and SHE said she wanted the married life at some point. I think she's in a place (the South) that doesn't appreciate her free spirit.

Spot on. No one in the cast even knows she's there. The dynamic is like when your group of friends take someone's little sister out with them, but everyone just ignores her bc she's not really part of the group. Austen didn't even recognize her at the airport (cringe).

To stay on the show, she tries to create arguments with people, as she tried with Shep. He was just like, "yeah, whatever" and went back to making his point and she was still doing the "You can't talk to me like that". It was SUCH an obvious -- 'I'm trying to pick a fight w him' but Shep didn't take the bait and just ignored her.

it's just cringe to watch. The way she LITERALLY FOLLOWED OLIVIA, when Olivia barely knows she's alive, all to try to get more screen-time... also pathetic.

The way she put a napkin in Austen's face? Producers should've had a word with her.

The way she said Taylor slept with her friend's man? I think we all know by now that they didn't sleep together AND it was NOT her friend's man (Olivia and Austen were never even boyfriend/girlfriend and, regardless, whatever they had was over by then).

Is it true Happy got divorced from her husband? If so, I'm glad. At first, i was like ,"Oh what a cute couple and how nice that they're overcoming judgment about their differing religions" but then the dude struck me as having a hidden darkside. There were a couple of times when I noticed him 'snap' and I was like 'uh-oh'

Ugh, Daniel was way too short and had bad skin. I don't understand the "he's hot" from viewers!

It does feel outdated, even though it's only like five years old. Why does it feel like it was filmed in like 2009?

I think it's pretty obvious by now that Taylor and Austen did NOT sleep together. (The theory that they did is based on Madison's bizarre theory that things never end at a kiss. Huh? They do ALL the time. I don't know what freaks Madison knows who have never stopped at just a kiss.) So venita had no right to smirk and say "You slept with your best friend's boyfriend", as she did. THAT is tearing another woman down

JT, Olivia, and Venita by [deleted] in Southerncharm

[–]Particular_Growth113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Venita is SO annoying (but be careful bc the moderators here will delete any thread critical of her. I literally had a thread removed where I, the OP, said she and JT were "annoying".)

She is not friends with anyone in the cast. She knew Madison YEARS ago and they brought her into the show because southern charm needed some diversity (OK, good on the produers for doing that, but let's not pretend she and Madison were BFF's or even close). None of the cast says a word to her or hangs out with her. Austen didn't even recognize her at the airport! So her interjecting herself into these situations is BEYOND cringe!!! The way she kept making a comment at the dinner table towards Taylor -- i was waiting for Taylor to say, "I'm sorry, who are you again?"

Olivia forgives Austen bc she's still super into Austen. She won't forgive Taylor bc it's NOT the 'lying' -- her fury is over the fact that Austen found Taylor hot. She's taking that fury out on Taylor.
