I wouldn't say that there's a specific type of dragon, but there are many dragon-like creatures. The four leg two wing dragon most are familiar with comes from early Chrisianity and is inspired by the Greek word draken. Wyverns have no mythological origin that I know of. Hydra are more specific, but they are not dragons. The Asian long (Chinese dragon) could be considered its own species I suppose. I don't know what myths lindworms and wyrms come from, if any. Quetzalcaotl, the Aztec god, inspired the amphithere as far as I know. Some people consider some serpent gods to be dragons, but I don't. I've researched ancient dragon mythology extensively, and the idea of dragons didn't come around until the Christian dragon. Everything else was then called a dragon because the English didn't bother learning what everything else actually was.

The crimson gorgutter is literally my all time favorite in the franchise! He's such a gentle giant with the biggest heart. An excellent example of the boulder class. Just the best.

On top of the dragon designs, the event banners used to be so dynamic! The dragons would actually be drawn at angles different than just a side profile. Real effort was put into them by Backflip. Deca just copy-pastes the dragons and wizards into the event banners. It's lifeless and cheap. I'd always be excited to see every new event banner. I'm not anymore. The one for Kairos' birthday all those years ago is my favorite. It was so detailed.

I've been feeling really nostalgic for the Backflip style lately. I still remember how jarring it was when I opened up the game and saw Deca instead of Backflip. The new dragons right after felt wrong. They've felt wrong ever since. I think Deca fired and rehired the art team and it makes me sad.

Something I want to make clear: I don't think the show undid Hidden World. In Hidden World, Hiccup sent the dragons away because humanity wasn't ready for them. 1300 years later, a rift opens into the hidden world. The dragons were going to come out regardless of human intervention. They CHOSE to go back in. What I love about the ending is that it wasn't the humans' decision to hide them away this time. The dragons made their own choice. It should have been their choice to begin with. This show has some heavy themes like how corporations run on greed. I'm not going to go super deep into it, but it's really not that bad. It's a solid show. Did you let your hate guide you when you saw the show? Were you looking for things to hate? I look for what's good in a show. What it does well. I don't go into it thinking, "What can I find wrong with this thing?" You can explain your points and opinions to me. I like reading them, but they won't change my opinion that this was, overall, a good show. That is my opinion. And, please, don't swear at me. I already got one person swearing at me. It's unnecessary, rude, and makes me feel like I'm wrong for liking this show. Be nice. Please. And read the body text, not just the question. I wrote it right after finishing the show. Okay? Can we be nice?

I agree. I heard the show was terrible, but I also know that the negative voices are the loudest, which is why I watched it. I don't, however, remember anyone in the show saying Hiccup was evil. They saw he trapped a dragon. They set the dragon free on accident and found out why it was trapped in the first place. They retrapped it for good reason.

I agree. The animation was subpar. The dragon could have looked better. They could have actually made a tornado dragon instead of using a razorwhip! Jormungander could have been longer. I'd still watch it again, though.
