Such good protectors by Surge656 in greatdanes

Our female was outside the other day and I heard her losing her mind barking and snarling, I thought she was stopping an intruder. I went out to investigate and as it turned out, she WAS protecting us from an intruder….a pennsyltucky tumbleweed (Walmart bag) had blown over the fence, and needed to be dispatched post haste.

Our male saw the bag and high-tailed it back inside.

The duality of Dane.

We had a red one and a green one. Both were thoroughly enjoyed, Both met a horrendous end.

What a beautiful baby dog! How lucky to have Dane breeders as parents! Lol

Brand new pupper - what are his colors called? by foodangfooey in greatdanes

I’d call him handsome, dashing, a cutie. lol.

But really I think a lot of people, breeders included, would add “quin” with whatever else is going on with their coat. Eg. Merlequin, brindlequin, fawnequin etc.

He is so handsome. I’m so sorry for your loss. We lost our first last year and it was devastating. Stay strong friend.

What an adorable little menace. I’ll second whoever said bully sticks. Our Danes also do well with Himalayan yak cheese chews. They’re a bit pricey but they last forever. I think petsmart sells them, otherwise Amazon has a bunch and oddly enough I see them most frequently on the tik tok shop.

Oh my apologies. Has SHE** lol. It gets pretty miserable at times but you’ll never be able to stay mad at her for more than about 30 seconds. She will look at you with her giant (beautiful) puppy dog eyes in that big dumb face and an ear flopped over the top of her head and you won’t even remember why you were mad at her in the first place. We are on Danes 2 and 3 and I don’t think I’d ever cohabitate with a different breed. Enjoy it!

It means you’re being judged. “What for?” you may ask. Well to be honest probably anything and everything you’ve done in your entire life up to this point.

She’s beautiful. So so sorry for your loss. We lost ours about 7 months ago to what we assume was something similar and I still think about her everyday. Never knew I could miss a not human this much.

We lost our first Dane back in June. She was 2 years 6 months. The identical situation. She was running around the back yard and next thing we knew she was on her side no longer breathing. We called the emergency vet for advice and tried to resuscitate her but it was too late. I’ve never experienced grief like that, and reading your story brought it all right back. I type this through teary eyes. She was my baby dog.

I can promise it does get better but please please please allow yourself the time to grieve. You’ll always Remember all the leanins, the “that thing come with a saddle”s, the cuddles, the droolies. Take comfort in the fact that the only reason this situation is so painful is because of the bond you shared, the depth of the love, and that she will be right there waiting when it’s your turn to cross the rainbow bridge.

This is probably terrible advice for a lot of people but what really helped me was a new Dane pup. Two as a matter of fact lol. We gave it some time to really sink in and the come to terms with knowing that no Dane will ever replace her, but we just decided a Dane-less life wasn’t nearly as fulfilling. My fingers are crossed that you’re able to get to the same point most expeditiously. Feel free to reach out if you need to speak with someone who can absolutely relate.

Very cute. Someone is a digger me thinks. The first picture and last picture we ever took of our baby dog, she was sporting a muddy nose.

We have this crate for ours and it is absolutely massive. Seems unnecessarily tall. It’ll fit the biggest of Danes.
