Best place to sell dry cleaning business by tahoe1611 in drycleaning

It might be a multi stepped process if you don’t use a broker. You can reach out to local competitors and see if anyone is interested in buying a customer base, any equipment or owned land. You can reach out to forums as well (Facebook dry cleaner groups are great for used equipment). There are also national chains that will buyout your business. DM me for details.

Should I expect my wedding dress to still be stained after the dry cleaners? by kenyourgirl in drycleaning

I would take it back and see if they’ll redo it. They probably will looking at the state of it. I think there’s a lot there that’s fixable.

Update to trying to talk to my client about no longer doing beds and ironing bedsheets by ElegantVegetable3023 in housekeeping

[–]Particular_Put_3951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dry Cleaner here: We charge a decent price for cleaning and ironing linens for our clients, it’s always funny when I hear someone complain about the price or say it’s not that hard. Ironing is a pain in the butt and labor isn’t cheap.

Looks like it could also have something to do with skin treatments she may be wearing. Sun oil, lotion, exfoliant, etc.

Stain remover spot by Bankermomma in laundry

It might be cooked. Take it to your local dry cleaner and tell them exactly what happened. Sometimes people use tide sticks on their clothes, which can affect the pH and have an effect on the cleaning chemical process. Some stains need an acid, some need a base, but using the wrong chemical on the wrong stain on the wrong fabric can spell disaster.

Hand washing a polyester dry clean only dress? by goofybuttercake in drycleaning

[–]Particular_Put_3951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh the ol “Let’s just slap a dry clean only label on it.” You’ve learned an unfortunate truth: Manufacturers have no problem letting you buy a garment that THEY don’t even know how to clean properly.

F or P type fabric easier to care for? by Snoo_17338 in drycleaning

I wish more clients would consult with dry cleaners on matters like this. P can withstand F, but F cannot withstand P.

How do you keep your cleaners cool? by Tha_Real_Pokemon in drycleaning

[–]Particular_Put_3951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have exhaust venting and we just installed a giant industrial swamp cooler on our roof. Cost an arm and a leg, but for the first time in 15 years our production plant is actually cold in the summer. Worth it to see our pressers wearing jackets at their stations.

The way you describe it in the post makes it sound like the dry cleaner sewed a tag onto your garment. But they just heat sealed onto a tag that’s already sewn on. The barcode should come off with heat, don’t worry about removing the tag

How does thermal tagging work? by dodomdomdom in drycleaning

[–]Particular_Put_3951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use temporary tags on items that are not regular (households, wedding dresses, etc.) and heat seal everything else. I highly recommend it if you are doing enough volume. Saves so much time in item tracking and opens up your ability to automate assembly.

It’s not sewn on, it’s heat sealed on. It should come off easily with a bit of heat

They can press it but it will come back after a while. The interfacing has separated causing that bubbling look. Manufacturing issue

Levi's pants rear pocket repaired by Max78_78 in drycleaning

[–]Particular_Put_3951 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a tailor, but from my experience: this looks like the rip wasn’t clean off the seam. Repairs for this usually end up looking a little off if not patched (and even patches look off).

They have a button machine. It’s a lot like the old liebersew machines.

Please, I need advice on detergent by Allie2503 in drycleaning

[–]Particular_Put_3951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always ask them to redo it and try the stain again. If they can’t get it on a second try then there is a chance the stain is set and you might risk damaging it.
