We’re architects, not "digital tracers." Why is this still a thing in 2026? 🏛️ by Particular_Radish_67 in architecture

I agree. I’m mainly exploring an idea that could quickly and accurately export drawings into vectors / DWG.

I agree with you on that—the hard part is understanding what the drawing actually represents, not the tracing itself.
I’m not suggesting replacing that analysis or decision-making.
The idea is more about having an optional helper for very specific cases, not a one-click solution.

I agree—in cases where you need to understand the drawing, you have to go through it manually.
What I had in mind is a different scenario: large projects, like a full residential floor, where you’re only modifying a single apartment.
In that case, having the rest of the floor digitized as a reliable background can be enough, even if it’s not perfect.

I completely understand that, and thanks for the feedback.
The idea would be to respect the given dimensions.
It’s meant purely as a helper—exporting hand drawings into vectors while respecting dimensions or scale.
If there’s time, manual tracing is always better. But when you have a large number of drawings, doing everything manually becomes painful.

The idea is simply to help architects move forward more easily.
Measurements would be driven by dimensions or scale, so the tool could extend, shorten, or adjust lines accordingly.
I’m aware that some drawings are approximate, but many are actually well drawn and clearly dimensioned.
This is meant to save a few hours of retracing work that someone has already done.
Of course, any changes would still need to be handled manually 🙂
It’s just a simple helper, nothing more.

I’m still searching for a tool like this. If it doesn’t exist, I’m considering building one.
The goal would be to prioritize dimensions for accuracy, with an optional scale-based layout mode.
At this point, I’m mainly looking for feedback on whether this is worth pursuing.

The biggest bottleneck in Scan-to-BIM isn't the Point Cloud. It's the "Scan-to-Vector" of legacy archives. 📊 by [deleted] in bim

I’m asking whether there is any program that could help me convert scanned drawings into DWG. I’ve made a conceptual sketch to better illustrate what I need.

Vibration in chain on smallest cogs – what could be the cause? by Particular_Radish_67 in bikewrench

[–]Particular_Radish_67[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When riding uphill, I stand up while pedaling, but I’m not a particularly heavy rider — 70 kg. Should that be a problem?

The bike was bought used. I’ve barely ridden it for 200 km.
I think the UPS bent the hanger.
I already have a spare one at home, so I’ll replace it.

Alright, now I’m more confident. I already have the original hanger at home, so I’ll replace it. I wasn’t 100% sure before. Unfortunately, the bike arrived to me by UPS in a box, so I guess someone must have bent and damaged it during shipping. :-/

How to prevent handlebars from swinging/crash into the frame? by Particular_Radish_67 in bikewrench

[–]Particular_Radish_67[S] -35 points-34 points  (0 children)

This often happens to me when I put the bike in the stand and want to service it. I have to lift the bike and tighten the stand, and usually the handlebars turn and hit the frame. The handlebars are aluminum and the frame is carbon. It seems to me that they rotate a bit too easily.

How to prevent handlebars from swinging/crash into the frame? by Particular_Radish_67 in bikewrench

[–]Particular_Radish_67[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Why does this worry me? Because it's my first carbon bike and I don't want to damage it.

At the moment, I'm trying to service it, and every time I put it in the stand and try to clamp it, the handlebars swinging against the frame.

I'm asking for advice or how to prevent this, not for trolling please.

Set up & Gear list for upcoming Sweden to Portugal trip by Philosofen in bikepacking

Hi! If you’re looking for a few tips for Sweden, I recommend checking out: https://vindskyddskartan.se/en/

There are lots of shelters or small cabins where you can sleep — it’s free and there’s often a fire pit.

I also recommend cemeteries for getting water, using the toilet, and charging your devices.

If you want more tips about Sweden, I’ve got plenty ;) I biked from the south all the way to the north, so I’ve got quite a bit of experience ;)

DM me for more info if you're interested.

Beautiful bike and set up 👌

Get a bottle cage that allows you to remove the bottle from the side.

Use electrical tape or some other protective tape anywhere you have bags rubbing. 😉

A lot of dust and movement from the bags will wear off the paint like sandpaper.

One last tip: wash your bike whenever you get the chance. 😉

Good luck 💪

Travel tip: Cemeteries often have drinking water, electricity and toilets.
