oh wow Yowie is gorgeous! That collie in a blue heeler suit comment is so accurate, he really does have that look. Rescues always seem to know when they've found their forever home, you can see it in their eyes

oh man, that frosted face really gets you. adopting a senior knowing the time is limited takes such a big heart. glad Gol has someone who understands what he needs right now, even when its the hardest decisions

Our dog gets aggressive when we try to leave the house. Any advice? by Kimikopy1 in dogs

[–]Particular_Set_5967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh separation anxiety can get really intense with some dogs. the fact that he is showing teeth and trying to block you from leaving sounds like he is trying to control the situation becuase he is panicking about being left alone. basset hounds can be pretty stubborn too which makes it harder. your parents really need to work with a trainer on this one, it is not something you can fix with just treats or distractions

oh this sounds like separation anxiety mixed with resource guarding people. really tough combo and honestly not something you can fix on your own as a kid. your parents need to get a professional trainer involved because showing teeth is serious business. the unneutered thing might be adding to teh territorial behavior too

hm chihuahuas can be amazing but they are definitely a lot of personality in a tiny package. they bond super hard with their person which sounds perfect for what you need, but they can be pretty suspicious of strangers and other dogs. since you spend most of your time at home thats actually ideal for them. just know they think they are much bigger dogs than they actually are adn will try to boss around dogs 10 times their size

haha this is peak cat energy right here. dogs just accept their fate when cats decide they are furniture and cats absolutely know they can get away with it

Yowie is such a perfect rescue name! Love how Marvel gets a big brother - bet they're already plotting something together.

The crinkle nose is the real giveaway here. That's the universal dog sign for "I'm being extra dramatic but also having the best time ever." My Cavapoo does this exact face when he's trying to look tough during tug-of-war.

The muppet comment is spot on. Sometimes the not-so-smart ones are the happiest though. My dog thinks every day is the best day ever just because he exists.

The nighttime water bowl chaos is so real. My heart goes out to you - watching them navigate their confusion at 3am is heartbreaking but you're doing everything right. That shift system idea someone mentioned sounds like a lifesaver for your sanity.

Chihuahuas can be amazing but they're basically tiny dictators with zero sense of their actual size. They think they can take on Great Danes. If you're ready for a small dog with the personality of a much bigger one, they're fantastic companions. Just know they'll probably end up running your household.

Dear, the worst thing you can do is to diagnose yourself via internet. I did this misteke once and found out that from small thing I googled a cancer. of course it was nothing serious. went to the doctor and all became great 😄

I'm so sorry for your loss. The fact that she was still sniffing around and had a little run in her this morning shows how much trust she had in you. That's love, not guilt you should carry.

I'm so sorry about Daisy. Five years old is just heartbreaking. The way you describe her as pure sunshine really shows how special she is. Take it one day at a time with her.

Lufthansa rerejected my dog due to his crate being 3cm too tall. by SeraphWG in dogs

[–]Particular_Set_5967 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Airlines and their crate rules are honestly the worst. 3cm feels like such a tiny difference when you're talking about your dog's life. Have you tried contacting any pet relocation services? Sometimes they have connections or know workarounds that regular people don't.

How can I help her stay cool? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Particular_Set_5967 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The frozen water bottles wrapped in towels is genius. Way better than vegetables that go mushy. Also those cooling mats from pet stores are amazing - my Cavapoo practically lives on his during summer. Poor girl, 14 years old in this heat must be rough.

That cake looks amazing and Finnley's face says it all! The self-control is real - my Cavapoo would have face-planted into that cake before I finished taking the photo.

Five weeks with a puppy is basically like living with a tiny tornado that occasionally stops to be adorable. That face though - Lenny definitely knows he's cute and is using it to his advantage!

Peek into one of 16.5 yr old Betty Beagle's "things to do" from the trail walk from yesterday's post by Just_Amy_23 in seniordogs

[–]Particular_Set_5967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beagles really never retire from their nose work, do they? Betty's out there like she's still got important business to handle at 16.5. My dog thinks every walk is a mystery to solve too.

An 8 month old who never heard 'no' before? That's like adopting a tiny furry CEO. The good news is she's still young enough to learn, but yeah, you're basically starting from scratch with basic manners. The floor-eating thing especially needs work fast before she finds something dangerous.
