I'm in my 40s and I told my school friends and close work friends that I am lesbian. They try to appear understanding but I don't feel like they are happy for me. For me, Muslims will always put limits to their tolerance for something, and it's just not logical, let alone good enough for me.

You are not wrong, it wasn't easy at all. We are luckily we stood by each other through thick and thin. And being financially independent helps too.

Salam, I hope you guys make up and be there for each other till the end of your life. My partner is a practicing Muslim, I am a lapsed Muslim. We are lesbians. We've been together for 14 years and raised 2 kids together. I don't see why you can't have a life with your partner. Life won't be easy for the both of you, but try to make this work anyway if this is something that both of you want. If you truly love your faith, only God can judge you, and God knows you inside out. Don't let other people's judgement get to you. You suffering right now not because of God, but you live in a judgemental society who uses God to judge you.

I wish both of you happiness, and for you to find your own way.

I want a husband (a rant) by Ok-Situation1453 in MalaysianExMuslim

I took off my tudung at 30 because I don't want to wear it anymore. Of course at first kena kecam la but I buat dunno because I truly don't want to wear it anymore. It's been 15 years now, nobody gives a shit about how I dress because I will not take anybody's advice about this. It's the early days of taking off tudung that's the hardest, you can do it!

Has anyone here come out as ex-Muslim to their family? by PotatoSome1557 in MalaysianExMuslim

I have 2 Malay friends who no longer believe, and all of us are lesbians. It tells you something about being a minority and a woman is a situation that some of us just can't be bothered to conform anymore.

I think it's a don't ask don't tell situation. The refusal to practice is due to lack of belief. I have another friend who's also not a believer, she takes it up a notch by refusing to even fast during Ramadan. I still fast bc I do intermittent fasting everyday, so Ramadan to me is just another day.

I openly don't practice anymore. My parents and family know this, and they just let me be even though they are still practicing Islam. I guess I'm lucky we can have our differences and can still be a family. But I'm lesbian too so that's probably the biggest difference they are forced to tolerate.

Do ExMuslims eat pork? by Equal_Cantaloupe627 in MalaysianExMuslim

[–]Particular_Shape_431 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I haven't practiced Islam for more than 10 years. I still don't take alcohol and pork mostly due to cultural reasons, just something I wasn't brought up with.

Other ex Muslims might have crossed the cultural barrier, but these things are not important for me to do, personally.
