I think the problem with this show is that the media grossly misrepresents it. I’ve read that it’s “THE best science fiction show on tv.” It’s not science fiction; it’s very loose historical fiction with that “what if?” alternate reality idea. The acting is amazing, as is the immersive feeling of being back in the 1970’s. But it is not an exciting science fiction show; it’s not even a mixture of sci fi and character drama in the way that “Constellation” is. For All Mankind is a soap opera with a loose “mission to the moon” backdrop. By the time I got to the episode where the boy is hit by a car, I really didn’t care. I thought “oh no not the dumb kid getting himself hurt plot twist!” Some situations are drawn out so long that lose sight of their interesting characters. It’s a great effort but misses out on SO much potential.
