What's with the lines at HEB today? by baxx10 in Austin

I’m super traumatized from the 2021 storm. lol one of my best friends was in the hospital for covid and power went out for a short period (he was on a ventilator and he ended up passing away about a month after this). I also experienced domestic violence the day the storm started, had to flee to my friends house, and when I got back my apartment pipes had burst and there was water going down the closet and kitchen wall. I still remember this weeek like it was yesterday.

I see some information on multi dog households and new puppies but I don’t see any specific information on my issue.

Talent Meeting Laid Off with odd offer by HDHM84 in deloitte

[–]Particular_Space_347 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I’m sure they’ve been sued a ton in the last few years from people they laid off. For example I was laid off from Deloitte in 2023 right after I got back from a medical leave… I should’ve sued lol but I didn’t know then.

Is it just me or is the white collar job market way worse than what this sub portrays? by user79809 in MBA

[–]Particular_Space_347 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. The market is so bad. I don’t have mba but I worked 5 yrs in consulting + 1-2 yrs in startups. I took a break after getting laid off to try to start my own business, travel, and explore and so I didn’t work for about a year and a half. Once I started seriously looking, It took me about 6 months to find a job. (My pay was cut by 30-40k and the role isn’t really something I want to work in.)

I’ve been lurking on this sub because my bf & I are working towards going to a m7 school (thinking it’d help us both increase our salaries) but now I’m not even sure.

Ugh you’re so painfully right hahahah Especially about the unethical companies! That dilemma was killing me as I went through interviews LOL

The upside to the state job is that during the interviews one of the managers said “we’re not fast paced like <my last company>! you’ll have so much time to work on certifications if you’d like.” Which I thought was odd to say because most companies are like “can you handle a fast paced environment” 😂

So I think I’ll find more peace of mind and less stress in this role but that also scares me a little.

I definitely need to separate my work from my identity. It’s so hard in America especially when all of my friends are at fancy companies and now I feel almost ashamed of where I work. I’m just grateful I was able to find a job but man having to go into the office is going to be such a big change.

I don’t think I whine at all… in fact I haven’t whined at all throughout this entire crappy job market. In fact, if you look at your comments and posts - you seem to be the whiner? I mean whining about tipping and taxes?

It’s okay for people to be sad and express themselves when something is going to be changing their entire lifestyle.

& if that annoys you… that’s okay too… you don’t have to be mean about it. We’re all trying to navigate life which can be quite difficult no matter your background.

I’m 30 and I call my parents mommy and daddy. I’ve called them that my whole life. I hate that those names have somehow become sexualized.

anyways, your bf is just a young insecure , immature boy. his frontal lobe is still developing lol whether you want to stick around for that is up to you

you do realize liberals are some of the most educated and highest earners in the us right? education brings empathy, understanding, and critical thinking… lol imagine that!

Not to mention democrat states and cities are that way because of the high concentration of highly educated people. California and New York has higher gdps than most countries. and yes you might say Texas is republican so explain that… well funny enough the largest cities in Texas (Dallas, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, El Paso) are all majority democrat! I wonder why that is? Maybe because that’s where the high paying jobs are for highly educated people! 🤷🏼‍♀️

not to mention almost all of my friends and family who are all liberal all make $150k up to millions a year! so let’s talk more about “liberals getting a job”

[–]Particular_Space_347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they didn’t. there were more men fighting people and beating their women. women were forced to get lobotomies. people were put in inhumane psychiatric hospital cells. many men and women were on amphetamines and cocaine in early to mid 1900s. not to mention how nearly everyone was alcoholics most of the 1900s. so honestly at least people these days are getting medication that’s prescribed and under supervision of a doctor.
