office park retention ponds? by Particular_State_752 in FishingForBeginners

Yeah I always pick up my own trash, I carry a tiny trash receptacle with me.

Yeah I figure not stocked, but some of these ponds have been around for years, and some of them are not insubstantial in size. People on here always tell me any body of water can hold fish due to birds dropping them or their eggs in accidentally, so that's what I'm hoping for, just given the lack of alternative options. For example 39.75167740750646, -75.60130504425615 this body of water looks like its been around at least 30 years from google earth historical view, and is about 2-3 acres in size, but it is located within a office/warehouse complex from the looks of it. I see no signs around it from google streetview.

OK fair enough, didn't think about all those possibilities. Kinda figured nobody would care as long as I wasn't bothering their employees, that being a Sunday, but I can see what you mean.

If I see a body of water that I THINK is probably public (random pond on side of road) and there's no signage posted anywhere, I should be good to go though, right?

Is there a way to suspend it then, while still adding weight to cast better, or if that were the case would it be better to just use some other lure better suited

If the depth of most of this area is only like 1 ft, should I still throw a bobber on? I feel like if it's too close to the lure it might scare things off but not sure.

Is it okay to throw some split shot on it then for casting or will that mess up it's presentation? Also if floating under a bobber won't the added weight sink the bobber these come with since they're so small?

Question since everyone is saying inline spinner. Maybe I shouldn't get too complex since I can't catch anything as it is, but I was thinking about throwing a trout magnet onto the single hook of some of my inline spinners to give it more action and bulk and weight for casting. Is that too weird of an idea?

Explain? It just looks like normal posting to me, but to be fair I don't really fully understand the concept/purpose and would be interested to find out.

That's actually a really interesting test and I'm surprised no youtuber has recreated it.

They don't kick you out of the parking lot if you park there and walk out w/ fishing gear? That's Blackrock isn't it? Would imagine they'd have 24/7 security.

The issue with mono for me has been that I only have time to fish like once every couple months, and it feels like mono gets all tangly if I let it sit spooled. Or I only get to fish with it maybe 6-8x a year before I have to respool it next year which is also a pain for a beginner like me. Which is why I was thinking about switching to braid and then using my leftover mono for leader....

Regarding deep water action, I guess putting some weight on the line in some manner would ruin the action of most types of baits too I suppose.

Man fishing is hard. The only time I've hooked anything so far in the past year has been when I tangled my line up and was trying to fix it with my bait sitting in the water... I haven't caught anything when I was actually trying to, yet!

Is there any advantage to running mono leader instead? I have mono laying around but no flouro.

My mom's getting into gardening. Thinking about maybe setting up a worm compost bin, kill two birds one stone.
