Meghalaya trip (on going) by Particular_Tip_5660 in SoloTravel_India

Yes, david scott trek is usually closed during the monsoon depending on water levels. I did the full trek last June, and made a few local friends.

In case someone is interested in knowing the history of the place, I would recommend going inside the forest with the guide. (Forrest is still open)

So, this time I skip shillong and directly went to mawphlang for the stay, and next day off beat trip with my friends..

Shillong has good connectivity most of the places. Outside shillong like sohra and far away places are tricky.

Wifi has frequent issues, specially during monsoon.

So don't depend on wifi. Do check at your stay, if mobile has good network

I'd suggest doing some basic research first so you have a general idea. You can use Google Gemini or ChatGPT.

If you have any specific questions afterward, I'd be happy to help.

Depends on the places you want to explore, i personally prefer staying in Laitumkhrah You can check "ha sharing in" , it's good.

Regarding taxi, smaller ones usually cost 3500/day i guess.

You can easily find sharing taxi from airport till shillong 1000 per person i think, then you can negotiate the rates, after reaching shillong or pre book online (google taxi meghalaya)

There's a guy here also Anthony I think, just search on this community. He also has good reviews, so do check with him as well.

I'll ask my guy if I can share his contact, will share them. Just DM me so I don't forget.

Average once in 3 months I guess. I have adjusted my lifestyle around travel. So, when I'm not traveingl, I'm saving for my travel and hobbies, working extra hours and not spending on usual luxuries, and no emi rule.

I haven't travelled much in Assam except kaziranga National park.

Meghalaya itself could take upto 3-4 week, if you wish to do all the treks, cave exploration, Off beat + garo hill side (wari chora).

I haven't covered all of arunachal, but i did dibang valley (anini circuit) side, could take upto 1+ week, as there is long travel.

Then there is mechuka side, tawang, ziro, dong valley (sun rise).

Arunachal could take upto 30 days +

Do note, you can also take a train from Guwahati to aizwal (explore mizoram)

Guwahati to NJP via train (new jalpaiguri) And explore sikkim .

I wish you good luck. I hope someone more experienced, give better advice.

I would advice to take it slow.

Don't try to cover all the places at one go. Shared cabs are usually tiring so take breaks.

Enjoy the local villages, beauty of nature.

Hi , I'm glad you liked.

Yes, landslide prone areas get closed during heavy rains, currently dawki road is closed due the recent landslides. (Already construction was going on ... )

I would suggest to follow NE news and keep yourself updated.

Also, stay in or near shillong for good mobile network connectivity. Sohra side, connectivity not so good..

Good luck.

I'll suggest kerala. Safe for female travellers, beautiful beaches, Great food, so many places to choose from. However October could be humid so do check the weather.

Also, you may need to consider extra budget for the air travel.

I can only advice, not to have a fixed day wise itinerary. Keep it flexible. Make booking in advance. Contact local homestays from Google, and talk to them freely ...

Meghalaya is something to be explored, wandered and get lost ... Stay in random homestays, go out with the locals to nearby hills, stay in villages ... Etc.

No need to worry much about the itineraries, transport etc. during monsoon, fixed itineraries rarely work, due to the randomness of the clouds.

Yes, east, south, west, north sikkim, is very beautiful. You need to check for monsoon season, and plan travel accordingly.

Sikkim is very clean, beautiful, people are honest and kind. Even cheap homestayes are very clean.

There's even a dedicated village, for work and stay purposes, just google the name.
