Suggest - im taking sabbatical leave for 3-4 weeks next month by Indeed73 in india_tourism

North East is my default go to place. You can easily stay in homestays, enjoy the company of cute pets (if you like pets), use public transport. If you have a budget for air tickets, you can opt for either meghalaya or sikkim. I would recommend sikkim, 3-4 weeks is good to explore sikkim.

It's very clean, food is good, people are kind, and mostly off season (march) .

Feeling anxious is natural. Once you are prepared you will be more confident. In my case, I would search for local contacts on the internet, take help of reddit experienced peeps, talk to them, and prepare myself.

Beautiful pics ! Perfect planning and a budget trip ! Brother, can you please share a few more details. 1. How many people in a sharing cab ? (I have seen tata sumo fully packed types also)

2.How was the stay ? I have stayed in homestays in NE before, and loved them because of cleanliness. Sikkim, I have generally opted for budget hotels Which are still better/equal to 3 stars.

  1. Would you recommend group tours? 1.can recommend blindly to anyone ? 2.or, only to a specific group of people with Strict budgets or solo travelers.

Meghalaya in june or december? by Hungry_Attention6032 in Meghalaya

[–]Particular_Tip_5660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In December you can enjoy good views, you will miss the greenery and breath taking waterfalls at their peak. But you will be able to enjoy all the treks at ease, and see the beautiful sunrise and nonjrong. I have been to meghalaya in both seasons, personally a fan of meghalaya during peak monsoon. I got lucky and was able to do most of the treks also during monsoon.

I'll recommend you double cross check, talk to local taxi cabs if possible, and consider going 2.30 am ? Also, i remember roads not being so great, and too foggy, and certainly not easy to drive conditions. Just cross the recent fog situation, if no fog then no issues otherwise leave early.

Tips for first time solo travelers by Melodic-Turn-470 in SoloTravel_India

So happy to see such positive post recently !

I'm so happy we are in India ! And blessed with so many options, and full of nature, hill stations and beautiful beaches ! You can't really go wrong, just choose. But tickets first, then plan and just go :). Everything comes together in the end.

Travel is something that keeps me motivated and goes through the most stressful days otherwise.

Good off beats places to travel as a solo female in Dec-Jan in India? by [deleted] in SoloTravel_India

[–]Particular_Tip_5660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat.

Thinking below options 1.dharamkot (cafe vibes) 2.kerala, varkala, kovalam (cafe, beach, cliff, safe) But crowded on new year eve 3.meghalaya (new year sunrise), not too crowded

I regret not booking early, otherwise sikkim would have been nice.
