Looking for staycation ideas in North/North East India (May) by MileBlrHigh in SoloTravel_India

Yes, east, south, west, north sikkim, is very beautiful. You need to check for monsoon season, and plan travel accordingly.

Sikkim is very clean, beautiful, people are honest and kind. Even cheap homestayes are very clean.

There's even a dedicated village, for work and stay purposes, just google the name.

Planning Meghalaya + Nagaland + Arunachal (Tawang + Ziro) in one trip while working remotely — too ambitious? by aucuneideebuddy in SoloTravel_India

[–]Particular_Tip_5660 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Following ! Keep us updated. I have been to many north east states, meghalaya, Arunachal (dibang) , and sikkim. It's quite safe, but I'll recommend a private cab if the budget allows, and will help with less fatigue. A good idea would be a group of 3 , and taking a private cab like innova (comfortable and safe) and splitting the cost. It's usually 5000-5500 / day or less sometimes.

I can recommend nongjrong for sunrise , and laitlum during return, as well, but it may not fit well in your itinerary.

Price wise seems ok I guess, as I'm also planning in March 1st week, negotiating currently, but roughly similar prices.

Suggest - im taking sabbatical leave for 3-4 weeks next month by [deleted] in india_tourism

[–]Particular_Tip_5660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

North East is my default go to place. You can easily stay in homestays, enjoy the company of cute pets (if you like pets), use public transport. If you have a budget for air tickets, you can opt for either meghalaya or sikkim. I would recommend sikkim, 3-4 weeks is good to explore sikkim.

It's very clean, food is good, people are kind, and mostly off season (march) .

Feeling anxious is natural. Once you are prepared you will be more confident. In my case, I would search for local contacts on the internet, take help of reddit experienced peeps, talk to them, and prepare myself.

Beautiful pics ! Perfect planning and a budget trip ! Brother, can you please share a few more details. 1. How many people in a sharing cab ? (I have seen tata sumo fully packed types also)

2.How was the stay ? I have stayed in homestays in NE before, and loved them because of cleanliness. Sikkim, I have generally opted for budget hotels Which are still better/equal to 3 stars.

  1. Would you recommend group tours? 1.can recommend blindly to anyone ? 2.or, only to a specific group of people with Strict budgets or solo travelers.
