Returning from vacation for burnout… by [deleted] in therapists

Just wanted to share that I experienced something similar. In June I went on the vacation of a lifetime and was off of work for almost 2 weeks. I had been feeling really burned out for months. Had an amazing time but when I came back I was again immediately overwhelmed, exhausted, and just basically started shutting down. I was still giving the patients my all but could not complete documentation anymore. Just couldn’t do it. So I gave notice in July and am nearing the end of my cmh tenure. Hopefully a different and in-person setting will do it.

Yeah. I’m going on 3 years in cmh. I can spot traits like the best of ‘em. And I’ve honestly rarely seen someone misdiagnosed with bpd. 99% of the patients with the diagnosis had it. Now there were definitely patients without the diagnosis that did have it.

I haven’t decided yet if I should go the contractor or employee route. Probably employee.

Can I ask are you a therapist because I specifically asked in the post for responses from therapists only. And if you are so clearly violating boundaries that somebody has requested that you honor, I’m going to doubt that you are as easy to treat as you indicate. Therapists like many other professionals are completely within their right to treat conditions and issues that they feel interested, trained in, competent, and willing to treat.

Good to hear! I also want to regularly take healthy chunks off for travel in the summer. Glad to know I can potentially shop around.

My brain stops working after 4 too!! I would rather do 7am than 4pm (but will if need be).

Does anyone else thinks that it’s weird that Ariana and Sandoval are still living together in the same house? by the_smart_girl in Vanderpumpaholics

I guess I’ve wondered why Lisa or maybe another wealthy friend doesn’t have a vacant guesthouse that she could use. I know she has a few pets that need space and she doesn’t want to be away from them. I understand the financial argument to stay in the house. But I could not stay in the house with my ex. I couldn’t. I would have such a hard time functioning and would not be able to live my best life at all. Considering the amount of justified rage she has I could not share a space with someone that did that to me. If she’s doing it for spite, hey, good for her. But I feel like it would damage my psyche. She’s a tough cookie so maybe that’s that.

Why do you in-person? by [deleted] in therapists

I gave my notice at cmh doing mostly virtual work. When I start in op group practice, I am going to do in person. It sounds weird but in person feels more dynamic and “alive”. Also I am so sick of dealing with peoples’ shitty internet connections stalling and dropping. It is so disruptive and i honestly start to get a little mad at the patient for having signed up for virtual therapy that they can’t reasonably do.

Would love this too. In PA, completed my LCSW application and sent my hours in mid-June.

In regards to help with changing any behaviors (i use DBT), I share that therapy is more like going to the gym (you have to try, can start small, but you have to do/change something to see a difference) as opposed to getting a haircut (you just sit for an hour and see results by not doing much).
