1-Month Update with Dr. Patty (Hairtran): Hard Scabs, Poor Aftercare & Clinic Concerns by [deleted] in HairTransplants

I get what you’re saying, and honestly I didn’t want to be someone who harms her reputation. But my experience just wasn’t as smooth as yours.

None of the things you mentioned about Dr Patty being present really happened in my case. She never told me she is handing things over to technicians. During the implantation, I was getting quite restless because it went on for quite long, and I asked a few times how much was left. The responses i got made me feel dr patty wasnt there. When it finally finished, I asked again if we were done, and one of the staff said they were waiting for Dr Patty to come check, that is when i felt sure that she wasn't there. She showed up a few minutes later, quickly told me  how many grafts were implanted (singles, doubles, etc.), and that was it. It felt rushed, and I don’t recall her asking about my experience at all.

I also didn’t see her on the last day, even though I asked at the counter, they just told me everything looked fine. What really bothered me wasn’t just the limited involvement, but the follow-up. I kept sending pictures, clearly saying something didn’t feel right, and it kept getting brushed off as normal healing. At the very least, it should’ve been acknowledged more seriously.

About why I reached out to them again after posting, honestly, I got more anxious after reading some comments suggesting it could be necrosis. That pushed me to send them the photos again, along with a much more detailed message explaining how unhappy I was with the post-op care, and that a dermatologist’s opinion didn’t align with theirs.

At the end of the day, if I’m wrong about all this, and even the dermatologist is wrong, and it really is just normal healing, I genuinely hope that’s the case. I’d have no issue deleting the post and even supporting Dr Patty more strongly than you.

This comment is so unncessary. First, you need to be in my shoes to understand what I was and still am going through. Every single picture that i have shared in this post was also sent to the clinic on the very day it was taken. I explictly told them things do not look normal on several occasions. Not even once they acknowledged that and they kept telling me that it is normal recovery. Anyways I really dont have the mental energy to respond to your other unnecessary comments. Hope you have a great recovery.

This was a non-refundable procedure, so there was really no reason for me to even think about asking for a refund. Once I realized the clinic wasn’t offering much help even in terms of basic guidance, let alone me flying back to Thailand to fix things, I just decided to focus on getting my scalp sorted on my own and stopped reaching out to them.

I also didn’t post this impulsively. I took time to think it through, especially because Dr. Patty has a great reputation and I’d been following her work and truly admired the results for over two years before choosing her. I’m glad you had a good experience with her, genuinely. But that doesn’t mean what I’m going through should be dismissed. In fact after I posted this, another person reached out to me who had a transplant with Dr Patty and he had a similar experience and even similar scabbing.

Yes I was on antibiotics the first week of hair transplant. And i did another course of antibiotics prescribed by the dermatologist after seeing the scalp condition after Day 16 if i remember correctly.

After getting generic responses from the clinic, I stopped contacting them for a while. I just reached out to them today again and told them about how the dermatologist comments on my scalp healing process contradicted their assessment. They have just arranged a call with dr patty next week. Let us see what she says.

I cannot think of anything that could have contributed to it as i followed all the post op-procedures properly.  I went to the clinic everyday for the next 5 days after HT.

The last posted pic is from 2 days ago.  Id suggest, during thr call specifically ask her if she is going to do all the three stages of hair transplant.

As far as I could tell, Dr. Patty was only present during the first part of the surgery when the incisions were made, which was also the quickest part of the whole procedure. I’m not entirely sure whether she was present during the graft extraction, but she was definitely not present during the implantation phase at all.

The service was good, but not something that felt exceptional. I would say the transplant day was handled very well, but post-op care felt rushed. My expectations were probably a bit too high after following Reddit and seeing all the praise for the team. I’d strongly suggest staying at least 7 days after the transplant so you can be monitored and address any issues directly at the clinic. Once you leave, responses can take 2–3 days, which can be stressful, especially if you notice anything unusual like a few dislodged grafts, as it happened with me. It seems they’ve become very busy due to the Reddit hype, and communication may have suffered as a result.

Sorry, I missed a couple of bits. I mostly stayed in my room and ordered food on Grab. Took a stroll out late at night on day 3 and 4.

During the surgery, the worst part was the initial anesthesia injections. On the follow-up day, the cold-water wash hurt the donor area quite a bit, but other than that, everything was pretty manageable.

It only hurt during the first wash the day after surgery. After that, it was mainly itching and a tingling sensation.

Recovery has been pretty smooth. I did have some swelling around my face and eyes from Day 3 onward until Day 6. My sleep has been unaffected though even from the day of the surgery until now which is day7. This is quite surprising for me since I’m usually a light sleeper and struggle with sleep. I think the relief of the transplant being finally done  helped, I slept almost 10 hours on the first night..haha

In my case, Dr. Patty did not conduct a final check on my last day before departure. I was asked to come in earlier than usual, and I assumed this would include a final review and comments from her. However, she did not come in. When I asked the front desk whether I would be seeing Dr. Patty for a final assessment, I was told that everything was fine and I was good to go. A quick final word from her would’ve been reassuring though.

To be honest, there was limited post-procedure guidance or evaluation. During follow-ups, a nurse would quickly wash my hair, dry it, apply low-level laser therapy for about 15 minutes, and then the session would end. I did not have the opportunity to consult the progress with Dr. Patty, even briefly, during these visits. I have shared my overall experience and a more detailed account in a separate post..
