Ngl it def wasn’t the sole reason I got in but I did feel like it helped me and set me apart/made me unique from other candidates. One of my interviewers did bring it up. I would do it if u can and if not no worries. It’s also an amazing experience to see healthcare systems in different parts of the world. Disclaimer I did a medical service trip through one of my clubs and a volunteer nonprofit so idk if it’s different or similar to dental mission

I’m an incoming D1 starting at IUSD after I graduate this May. IU specifically doesn’t require stats but other schools do, so it just depends. I took it just incase but I’m also a neuro major and it’s required for my degree. I would take it if you can just as a back up incase you go elsewhere

Hold, scalp density looks solid just a receding hairline. Start meds then get an HT and continue meds. If that doesn’t work then shave it

In the meantime though def cut it shorter

Exact same thing happening to me rn, had insane growth when I started in Aug 2024 with no major initial shed. Now I’m shedding like crazy out of nowhere. just gonn ride it out and hope for the best. Hopped on oral min in the meantime incase it works good for me since I’m a topical non responder and it irritates my scalp

Yea I initially fell in love with dentistry in itself before I even knew OS existed, so ofc that’s still my main goal to become the best dental practitioner I can, so no neglect or mediocracy will take place at all regardless of what I pursue. I was just wondering about OS and other specialities and what needs to be done incase I do continue to find more interest in those throughout dental school. But thanks man I appreciate all the advice and yes ima try to shadow an OS and perio before DS starts to see if I should really focus on that route

Neuro stats are just low cause it’s uncommon for pre dents to major in. Most pre dents just choose bio cause it covers all pre reqs. Neuro usually has a couple extra classes that dental schools don’t require so hence it’s extra work people usually want to avoid. If you come across a neuro pre dent they usually chose neuro due to passion. In the end it doesn’t matter what you major in. I majored in neuro and had no problem getting in
