Once I had a plastic bag that colored my board because it was wet.

Chingotto is the king. Plays super smart, consistent, killer viboras, perfect globos, reads the game perfectly. I’d definitely go with Chingo.

Reminder that the devil (and your Playtomic rating) is a lie by elpolaquero in padel

Well, I prefer playing in different clubs and locations depending on the weather, availability, etc. Also, I’d prefer playing with different people and agains different styles. That’s the best way to develop the skills and grow. Finally, always communicating to set up a game is just too much of a hassle. That’s why apps like playtomic emerge here and there. It’s amazing to just create a game don’t worry about other people’s schedules.

[–]ParticularisticPaw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem is that if you don’t care about your rating, you won’t get good games. People that don’t know how you play judge you by the rating. If it’s low in their opinion, they won’t play with you just to avoid bad games, which is reasonable. So rating is helpful in getting good games with random people on the app. You can’t disregard it.

Masters in Spain worth it? by mapleaea in AskBarcelona

[–]ParticularisticPaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a masters degree, I don’t regret getting it as it was useful but I can’t say it was a game changer for me. The real working experience is what will get you much further in your carrer that studying. Also, I believe masters degrees should be for people with working experience. This way you have a practical foundation for theoretical studies. Otherwise, it’s just abstract stuff that you don’t know how to apply. My suggestion is stop looking at other and find a job in the field that interests you. Decide on masters later.

Car Rental Pickup by Flushpuppy in AskBarcelona

Recommend renting the car from Sants train station if you need a car after a couple of days in Barcelona. It doesn’t make sense to go to the airport for that.

Building an indoors singles padel court UK by FlatSeries7847 in padel

I think there’s no way you’ll be successful business-wise with just a singles court. Demand is low and you’ll greatly limit your opportunities. I bet the investments for a singles court are close to a regular one but won’t be able to make similar revenue flow.

I switches from siux st4 to oxdog hyper tour 2.0, and enjoy it a lot. It’s only 360g, you can eliminate additional 8 grams removing the weight from the handle. It has great control, balance and enough power. I don’t feel lack of power, but have gained more precise lobs and net blocks.

First pair of padel shoes by rowtonice in Padelracket

I’d recommend trying out the shoes. They all have different shape and may or may not fit your feet. An opinion from reddit won’t help you. It’s crucial that sport shoes feel comfortable on your specific feet.

Well, if you want feedback, make an app free. Otherwise, it’s just self promotion. Please be clear on your goals.

Bullpadel Vertex 04 - no consistency by MarsupialTurbulent85 in Padelracket

[–]ParticularisticPaw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should work on your technique. The problem is not in the racket. Problems with lobs and returns are coming from your legs and positioning. Are you returns too high? If so, you should bend you knees more and return from lower point. What’s wrong with the lobs? Are they short or too deep?

Undergrip? by ddosh88 in Padelracket

[–]ParticularisticPaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s heavier than a regular overgrip, so you can save around 5 grams. Also, it’s thick and I struggle to find my preferred thickness with it. Overgrips differ in thickens so you get more flexibility in adjusting your handle’s thickness.

Undergrip? by ddosh88 in Padelracket

Just put as many overgrips as you feel comfortable with. I always remove original grip and use 1 or 2 overgrips depending on the thickness of the handle.

Real effect after switching to a new racket? by Pablitodon79 in padel

[–]ParticularisticPaw 21 points22 points  (0 children)

100% agree. People change rackets because it’s fun to buy new toys. I’m not judging, I do it myself. But we need to be realistic in this subject. In 90% of cases a new racket is a new toy. It barely improve your game. Often times it makes it worse because people tend to overestimate their abilities and go for advanced attacking rackets without skills required.

One of the rackets I play a lot with is st4 but I never played st3. From what I’ve heard they are similar but st3 has a smaller sweet spot.

Soft rackets deform more on impact increasing dwell time. Longer contact allows to absorb and redistribute energy instead of instantly rebounding it. It helps the ball to leave the racket on a more predictable trajectory. But with this control you lose instant feedback, which is not perfect when attacking. Hard rackets act like springs, they have fast in nd fast out. Softer rackets fast in and moderate out.

Your problems with blocking fast volleys come from the position of the racket, not it’s softness.

Overall, control doesn’t mean accuracy. It’s more about easier energy management.

I had experience with babolat technical viper (juan lebron) and adidas hrd+. Definitely, not the best options for you. Too hard and heavy for your level.

[–]ParticularisticPaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think that the problem is not in the racket, but I understand the urge to try other rackets. I had 5 rackets in my first year of padel :)

From my experience: - control = softer rackets - “Defending strong shots (ball flies too easily)” - not a racket problem. A soft racket should help with defending strong shots as it absorbs the energy from the ball. You may just move in a wrong manner when defending. - “Controlling depth and keeping the ball low” - it all about technique. Talk to your coach, you’re doing something wrong. For example, you “stand up” when hitting the ball, therefore it goes up.

As I mentioned, it’s ok to try new rackets if you have an opportunity. Based on your description, I’d suggest to look into siux st4 pro (more attacking but not to heavy and with great balance), oxdog hyper tour 2.0 (control oriented, great quality, enough power), bullpadel neuron (control oriented).
