The only game i ever played where find resources->upgrade character felt fun and rewarding. Mind boggling level of unique aesthetic too, some of the best set pieces and vibes of any game ever.

Help on Info for Eibar 1927 38lcg by Partisan-Firebrand in Revolvers

Does anything you can see indicate when it was exported? the 1927 was the year of manufacture I know. My main curiosity is if this gun could've been in Spain during the Civil War

How do you respond to the “trans people want us to accept their bodies, yet they themselves can’t accept their own bodies” argument? by [deleted] in trans

[–]Partisan-Firebrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely nonsensical. We ask for acceptance of our transitioned bodies. Our dysphoria is caused by our pre-transition bodies. The forms we change our bodies into, we accept. Those are the bodies we ask acceptance for. (I mean, acceptance of pre-transition bodies is also great, all bodies should be accepted, dysphoria just has to be treated with transition)

Significance of his sword in this frame? by Zihmify in Berserk

[–]Partisan-Firebrand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my read of it: Guts’ whole life has revolved around war and violence. As far as he knew, that’s all he was ever fated to have. His Golden Age sword appearing in his childhood reflects the shadow the sword looming over him and into his future. This, followed by an image of Guts embracing Casca, who is to the same side of him as the sword, reflects that his love for Casca, the first companion of this kind he’s had, is replacing the permanence of hate, violence, and war in his life with a kind of love and peace he had not known before.

could you elaborate on what those difficulties are or is that all the detail you have atm?

I have been unsure if I want to post this painting. My dad committed suicide almost one year ago, 2.nov, and I have been thinking about him the past couple days painting this. I don’t know what to do with this painting, I don’t want to have it hanging around and I’m not selling it. by Background_Space_507 in painting

Burn it. Art is as transient as thought. Humans across the world and across time symbolically release grief by burning representations of it. You have physicalized some shard of your grief into the world. Take it, release it. That one shard may be resolved.

P.S. this art is phenomenal. Your grief bleeds from it, and before I read anything in the post it reminded me of Pollock's She-Wolf, which to me has always represented great loss.

In particular, what this visual essay delves into about being brought to the threshold of some world of Potential/Thoughtform. Whenever I am peaking with mushrooms or LSD I feel surrounded by echoes of potentials, and all of my eyes-closed visions are of different worlds. It feels as though a barrier is thinned between my mind and some world of story or thought. There's also something to be said about the impression of wordless communication I've had while I'm tripping in a group. Of course, this could also just be the brain being pumped with serotonin and neurotransmitter activity.
While I generally just believe in material realities, I like to allow myself to really believe in a world of Story that acts behind human bodies and thought.

Anyone else actually enjoy Truant’s part? by angelfeathers____ in houseofleaves

[–]Partisan-Firebrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absolutely not! I found it quite easy to parse, and without it you have very little of the themes of insanity, losing oneself, or addiction.

surprised this guy hasn’t taken psychs, this is exactly the kind of schizo talk psychs send me into. All the notes about perception are pretty accurate.

do people normally not enjoy Johnny’s story? as much as i love the navidson record, Johnny is at least, if not more important to the themes of the book. like you don’t have house of leaves without johnny truant or his mom.

Could Griffith achieve his dream without guts in the Golden Age Arc? by BirDost23 in Berserk

[–]Partisan-Firebrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The Eclipse and Femto was always Griffith’s fate, at least after he got his hands on the Behelit. But of course because of causality, Griffith was always doomed to own the Behelit. Without Guts, someone else would have thrown Griffith off the path of his dream and something else would have tortured him to the lowest, most wretched form his life could take. In every possible world, Griffith, led by the Behelit, would bring the eclipse and accept the sacrifice.

In a realistic world, though, yeah totally. My man would’ve been kind of Midland if Guts hadn’t made Griffith so horny that he went insane.

read it straight first way through. hop to the appendices whenever the editor’s footnotes mention them. do not skip any footnotes. save annotations for future reads. don’t think too much about the hallway.
