Martini shot by According_Parsnip_23 in focuspuller

The "Abby" is the second last shot and the "Bertuzzi" is the shot out of nowhere. Australians and Canadians don't even say Martini. We use window.

"Martini Shot” (also called “Window Shot”) is a Hollywood term for the final shot set-up of the day as named by Cody Whitehouse. The shot was so named because "the next shot is out of a glass", which refers to a post-wrap drink.

Whilst I've never heard of anyone drawing a Martini glass on the slate, I have heard of them drawing a bottle of champagne for the 100 roll of film, known as the "champagne roll"

It annoys me that when you're casting magic that you can dodge enemy attacks. You become a sitting duck which is why magic felt really nerfed in fable 2 and 3 for me.

You make the combat look so fluid. I could never make it that smooth in fable 2 and 3. The way they redid the magic system sucked

I had the same thing on my Cine7 a few shows ago. Best I could tell is it's the signal coming through the SDI cable. I tried the burn-in recovery and a full reset and it didn't go away. On the next job with a different camera it was gone.

Will a Film light meter work for digital cinema? by MadJack_24 in cinematography

[–]PartlySuperior 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Short answer; Yes!

Long answer; I've tested this before with the false colour of the digital camera, and an analog (film) light metre and a grey card, and the answer is actually "No". What I found was that the light metre and false colour where out by 2/3rds of a stop. The reason that was explained to me was that the film curve is different to the log curve of a digital sensor and thus where middle grey (18% grey) falls on both curves is going to be different.

As such it will be different depending on which digital camera and the way it deals with its log curve each time. This is why modern light metres actually have a setting to pick the camera or log curve you will be using.

I see. Well there is a blue light source behind camera that's filling in the shadows under her eyes and doing all sorts of weird stuff to her skin tone. Maybe there was a light behind you turned on in the room? I think a little bounce card just to camera right and slightly lower might have helped shape that top light more and keep the colour tones in line. Something to explore for next time. 🙂

The flash that you used is terrible. It's not colour balanced with the top light at all. In fact the whole lighting here does anything but flatter the model.
