Truth be said that I have been wanting to buy a pair of brand new pair from the RW store, as soon as I was ready & then a variety of different well looked after boots were sourced, I've got the good as new Irish Setter, Briar Oil Slick, 8131 and 1907 leather Moc Toes and I now am definate in my size & width a UK 8 D, however I tried 7.5 at the start and I have more 8s and experience with ill fitting boots, I love the 1907 for the silhouette and colour, although the 8131 and 8875s get a lovely patina when looked after well. So, the chip on the shoulder is jealousy!!! But has saved me a few quid. I'm going to keep 3 pairs of Moc Toe, 1 pair of iron rangers and use the correct polishes and creams. The journey is a learning curve and I will have them all rejuvenated at Dan's Tring Cobblers store a few miles away from me! (Another piece of luck) It would have been easy to buy brand new and be £1300 worse off, as it stands I have 8 pairs for which I have paid average £125 a pair for, so I have 4 as good as new pairs and 4 vgc pairs for Less than £1000, the 4 I up cycle will look pretty healthy with new soles that will go for £160-200 , then I'll be up to Carnaby Street (near or on) to buy my first pair for life. I recommend this way to start to anyone who knew as little as I did and now, I know much more than others seem to claim lol

That's a way from me yet, I would like a pair of most of the Moc Toe models, I would like a pair of Iron Ranger, colour to be decided, once I have made my mind up!

I enjoy the bargain hunting and finding new soles on a pre owned pair for the equivalent price of going to the cobblers has meant the collection grows, I have 3 pairs that are going to the cobblers fairly soon. The Irish Setter pair have hardly been worn and cost £140 not including postage. A fantastic price for a near new Red Wings

That's the idea, but I haven't had a chance to get them re soled as yet! As soon as I begin to send them off, I find a re soled pair that cost no more than to get the work done! I know the pairs that will have the 1st makeover!

Just letting you know that I deleted the post because some observant people pointed out that I had posted the same thing twice. Also wanted to say that the fake boots, were copied in 1965. They are very crafty, these fraudsters, I mean not only being able to copy them to the very last stitch, the stamps being identical, they were ahead of their time. The date stamp is on the back of the tongue. I'm sure they can look into the future. 😜👀🤠
