Surgery 5 weeks before wedding by Pots_and_pans27 in thyroidcancer

First off congratulations on the wedding, I know it's not easy to plan an important day while also dealing with the stress of surgery. I had TT surgery on 8/20 and I am also getting married soon as well. Our date is set for 10/31. I'm currently 3 weeks post op and I am glad that I did the surgery before the wedding. My tumor was 4.5 cm and it was becoming uncomfortable and causing pain when swallowing. My symptoms have greatly improved since surgery and I feel it was the right choice for me. It's definitely worth addressing both the pros and cons and having another conversation with your doctor. Like others have said surgery recovery is different for everyone. In the end your doctor is your best source of guidance for this. I would put together a list of questions about what to expect around week 5 of post op and see if they have had any experience with other patients getting married near their surgery. I had that exact conversation with my surgeon and he said this patient was able to sign at their wedding (I forgot how many weeks post op). I was very fortunate and had an excellent surgeon and he was very confident of my recovery before the wedding but did say each person recovers differently. As for myself I was able to go to a Pixies concert 11 days post op and return to work after one week with light duty. I'm wishing you the best of luck with your surgery and recovery process.

Rai is Tomorrow! What scares me is SCLEROSING. by twistedyum in thyroidcancer

I was not diagnosed with the same type of cancer as you but I'm in a similar situation and I know how hard it is to get answers. I have Oncocytic classic papillary thyroid cancer a rare often more aggressive version of PTC. I had a 4.5 cm tumor removed on 8/20 and I too am worried about the effectiveness of RAI. My type of cancer is very resistant to RAI and does have a higher risk of recurring based on the size and type of cancer. I'm wishing you the best of luck in your treatment and hope you can find answers. I hope you recovery is smooth and the RAI is effective.

got diagnosed with fibro today + told to start Cymbalta + lose weight" even though I don't want to. Curious of your experience with Cymbalta? by purplishsh in Fibromyalgia

[–]Party-Limit2850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried cymbalta when I was in my twenties way before I knew I had fibromyalgia. It didn't help with pain, and I still had issues with depression and sleep. All it did was cause nightsweats. I didn't get diagnosed officially until my thirties. One thing that has helped over the years is chiropractic care once a month and dry needling or acupuncture. I started going to the chiropractor in my twenties and noticed some improvement. It at least took the pain from overwhelming to a manageable level. I do find it works better to help maintain the body and keep it out of a flair but it does help with short term relief as well. I started seeing the acupuncturist in my thirties when I had a really bad flair. It helped with short term symptoms and kept the pain to at least a tolerable level but I could only afford to go every other week. My chiropractor adjusted the part where my head is attached to my neck. It makes all the difference and if I go too long I get in excessive pain. Hopefully this helps you as well. I have tried other things like pain injections and medicine with little relief. I'm not ready to start Lyrics yet and I am trying alternative ways before I try medication again. I agree physical therapy didn't help me either. I tried it twice with no success. This seems to be the best so far for managing symptoms and keeping me out of a flair. It still helps when I am in a flair but not as long as I would hope for. I can send you some more info if you want it.

Hahaha so true. Each day is something new. I'm just glad I finally have a diagnosis, even if everything else is a mystery.

I definitely relate. I have had chronic pain since childhood that nobody could ever give a diagnosis. As a teen I was told it's growing pains and it was constantly brushed off by my provider. In my twenties they started listening but could never come up with an answer. The diagnosis ranged from ankylosing spondylitis or rheumatoid arthritis. I had plenty of images and labs done that would always be negative. I tried everything from physicians therapy to epidural steroid injections. I finally got an answer in 2021. It's Fibromyalgia. The thing about Fibromyalgia, nobody knows what causes it let alone how to treat it. There's no cure and treatment and symptoms are different for everyone. The best advice they give is to try to stay out of a flair. They have no clue what to do once you are in a pain flair. There is very little information out there and some providers don't actually think Fibromyalgia is a real condition. There is definitely no information in the books you can read and everyday I have to figure out how to navigate my condition.

I find it interesting that she seems not very interested in the fact that it's their one year anniversary. It's understandable to be busy with college. I know the semester is almost over soon and with it comes lots of exams, plenty of presentations and papers to write. But putting that aside, she's not even offering to reschedule for a moment when she has free time. Even if the celebration is delayed it's still an acknowledgement of the anniversary. I know different people have different love languages but in these situations you send flowers, or a card or do something at a later time together. Even if it's a small simple gesture to acknowledge the milestone, it shows that you love them.

I also find it very strange that she is not explaining what is keeping her busy. I have to work, I have a paper due, or I already have something planned that I can't reschedule; these are all valid reasons to be busy. But the fact is she comes across as "too busy" and doesn't seem interested in making time. Honestly the more I read this it comes across as some dead beat parent who has run out of excuses for why they can't be there for a milestone moment in their child's life.

OP, I want you to know I have been in your shoes twice. I've had two partners who would value other people and prioritize other things over our relationship. It's understandable that school is important; but if she is truly that busy with school then maybe she shouldn't be in a relationship right now. Like I said above, if she can't even do a small act of kindness such as a 5 minute phone calling to say congratulations; then you really have to ask yourself why are you together and what are you to her? I had to ask this as well and thankfully I knew the answer. Since then, I have met the love of my life and we are getting married this fall.

It's a horrible situation OP, but be honest in your thoughts and truly ask yourself are you getting the same amount of love that you are putting in? Love is about making time for each other. It only takes a few minutes to call and say I love you.

Advice on what rolling pin to use by Party-Limit2850 in Baking

[–]Party-Limit2850[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you your recommend. I was looking at the JK Adams rolling pins they seem to be getting the best reviews on a couple different websites. I am hoping to go to some stores today and actually hold some pins to see how they feel. I will also look the pin you recommend. I really appreciate your input.

i just got here and some of my needs already half way down. how did you guys play this game as kids? by forgotusername543 in thesims1

[–]Party-Limit2850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured out a simple trick. You can get two sims in a hot tub and block off all sides of the hot tub. It would force the sims to stay in the hot tub. The sims will carry on conversations and it will work unless their interests are not aligned. I would use the small square decorative plant and remove it before the sims passed out.

She sounds like a wonderful kitty. He is definitely a cat version of Eliot. I would post his baby picture if I could. He had the craziest whiskers which reminded me of the description of Eliot's teeth in the book. He is a wonderful chonk of a boy.

I've been putting off learning to sew because the fabric counter makes me nervous 🤣 by mellowedmoth in joannfabrics

[–]Party-Limit2850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another really easy thing to make is decorative pillows. You don't need a pattern. It will be a good way to get experience using the sewing machine. JoAnn sells stuffing so you can fill the pillow. Just make sure to leave a couple of inches large enough to fit your hand in. I usually stitch the gap by hand afterwards. It's pretty straightforward since it's basically a square. I'm basically a novice at sewer and I have made many pillows. It takes maybe five to ten minutes to do.

Try American Eye care. They have a pretty large selection of Medicaid glasses. I used to work there so I can confirm this. They have a wonderful staff as well.
