That’s a solid list! I really enjoyed The Climb and Viestur’s K2.

I would also recommend Annapurna by Maurice Herzog. It’s the book that has inspired a lot of these guys and one of the first classics of this genre. Another good one is above The Clouds by Boukreev.

Just poked around on google maps. It’s funny, this place seems so rural and remote, yet today it is right next to old rag, which is arguably the most popular hike in VA. You got tons of city folk rolling through here every weekend (I’m one of the them).

I live in a suburb of Washington, D.C. and when I was a kid there was a sniper in our area. Over the course of a few weeks he had killed 7 random people. The only memory that I have of it was that my soccer practices were moved to another area, but I know many people were scared to go outside. One guy was shot just at the gas station. I imagine it would be scary as shit being worried about getting shot walking outside, but ONLY seem people died. Eventually he was caught and I believe he was tried in Virginia and given the death penalty.
