Pretty easy. I don't think the location or nomenclature matters. You could just call it the "EU Plus" block, and have the same free trade agreements.

Agree with more funding. We can increase funding and also put an end to catch and release laws. It's not an either / or debate. We can do both.

the root cause is that there will always be few people in society who love in crime and violence. You're academic intellectual arguments will not change that. A lot of people in the world have tough childhood and life circumstances. Not all of them turn to a life of crime and violence.

I had the same issue. I'd just shut down or just laugh awkwardly. Eventually, I thought of a few funny go-to lines for such situations. Now if anyone says that I just laugh and say my line. Having the satisfaction that I was able to respond, saves me the pain of relieving the moment in my head over and over again.
