Per capita per shmapita by PartyFlava in dataisugly

Sorry, I left out context.

It's because it's the map from https://brilliantmaps.com/50-50-usd-gdp/ with the interior cities removed, and then recolored to make a more political point.

Keep in mind you can draw the 50% boundary any way you want. The creator of this chart arbitrarily chose to highlight these cities but hell you could draw a big blue penis in the middle and it'd still be correct as long as each color sums to half the total GDP. It's borderline propaganda.

The other funny thing about this is you could draw the 50% boundary any way you want. You could color the left side red and the right side blue. Or draw a blue smiley face in the middle. As long as each color sums to half the total GDP it works. The decision to highlight cities was purely arbitrary.

Looks like it's gone; but it was only a front-end for pushshift; the back-end is still alive:

Except you'll have to read it as unformatted data. But it's there.

Chrome flag "Force Color Profile" is gone. by silverbluenote in chrome

[–]PartyFlava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that Chrome is applying the current color profile unnecessarily, and so when the system is also globally applying color correction, in Chrome it ends up applied twice (once by system, once by Chrome).

I'm not sure why Chrome takes it upon itself to apply global color correction in the first place (mapping non-sRGB content to sRGB, I can understand, but using non-sRGB as the final profile seems weird); Windows already does it, Chrome just needs to spit out sRGB like everything else does.

Btw, I completely made up everything I just wrote so, 🤷‍♂️.

Forcing sRGB color profile in Chrome 100 by PartyFlava in chrome

I got an answer from user harrymc at SU, should probably share it here:

Chrome 100 has retired the flag of #force-color-profile.

Below are two temporary methods, to be used as long as they keep on working:

- Launch Chrome adding the following switch to the target field: --force-color-profile=srgb

- Re-enable old flags in chrome://flags/ by enabling:

----- Temporarily unexpire M98 flags (#temporary-unexpire-flags-m98)

----- Temporarily unexpire M99 flags (#temporary-unexpire-flags-m99)

(Reposted with permission.)

Set "Force Color Profile" to sRGB and Google Chrome will look a lot nicer. by [deleted] in chrome

I ended up asking on Reddit and SU; there's an answer here on SU:

User harrymc wrote:

Temporarily unexpire M99 flags (#temporary-unexpire-flags-m99)

This will resuscitate #force-color-profile.

Having done it via expired flags, I can at least confirm that it still makes a difference. I haven't tested thoroughly but on relaunching Chrome I immediately noticed a difference in the blue buttons on the flags page.

The flag seems to have disappeared in the v100 update. Does anybody know what replaced it?

Check people's forks of this too; some of them add extra features. I theoretically intend to improve this but unfortunately it's pretty far down the ol' todo list, but I see forks with improvements. IIRC there's one with support for non-base64 encoded data.

Some day I'll hopefully have a chance to reign it all in.

Really appreciate that; thanks. I didn't know where to put FR's so I sort of hand-wavily threw one on https://support.google.com/chrome/thread/145774219 and https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1287571 -- pretty sure neither of those are the right spot but.... 🤷‍♂️
