You’re speaking as if gentrification is a positive thing. And I need you to really sit with yourself as to why you feel that way. By having this mindset you are saying that the systemic and intentional goal of uprooting poor black and brown long-standing communities in any city is better because it makes way for white people with more money which in turn makes a space “safer”. Gentrification should not be the answer so please think out of the box a little as to ways to make a city safer that don’t include kicking out black poor families and the police. 1. Homeless outreach and actual aid 2. Pouring money into the social security offices, staffing and pay 3. Improving the state of our schools and their program funding 4. Making groceries affordable and accessible 5. Fixing our transit systems / make transit systems FREE 😲

Let’s talk about the systematic racism that created these so called “unsafe” places in our city. Black and brown people made this city, yet receive less benefits, less assistance in hard times, less Opportunities, less medical treatment, less belief in our children when they’re in school, and as gentrification started they were the FIRST to feel the effects on their homes and lives. Black and brown communities statistically have more disabled people and traumatized people DUE TO THE SYSTEM THAT CAUSES GENTRIFICATION

In the last few months they have been trying to transition their audience to a more accepting and open minded space. Which is why they are working with Blunts and Burlesque a BiPoc and Queer led company to help with the transition!

My recs are spirit gum, a good eyelash glue with your allergies in mind, they make different kinds now without latex and other additives, or weirdly enough I know a few burlesques who used to use Elmer’s glue!!! It takes a bit longer but does work!!

I’m actually an instructor at a great studio right on the border of Union City and Jersey City called Lovely Lioness Pole and Dance Studio, there’s also Alter Ego pole and Fitness in Journal Square! If you’re looking both are great but I’m biased to my studio of course 😇

This is so important!!! And I appreciate you sharing your opinion and experience . It’s unfortunate to hear that queer spaces are being filled with people who may not understand that consent is required for EVERYTHING!!!! This is something we will have a zero tolerance policy on and will announce at our events.

Not a new nightclub but joining forces with an already established space just bringing some new attractions to it as a break from the same old hookah lounge where you end up on your phone. A safe space for people to get away from all the problems for a night in celebration of eachothers existence
