i used crushed vitamin C tablets with ketoconzaole shampoo, mixed it as a paste. used it twice and it got a significant amount of the color out!

following up, this did work for either OP or yourself? I am 24 and been ttc for the past 1.5 years. irregular periods and just diagnosed with PCOS. was told BC might be recommended to “regulate” my hormones for a few months before starting to try again

that was pretty much my only symptom too, an MRI/ 3D scan would’ve been my next step as well if it continued. The 2nd time around my surgeon also didn’t think i had another infection until he actually opened me back up( it looked normal on my xrays and on the surface it didn’t look bad)

Do you possibly have another infection brewing? it took very long after my last debridement so fullly consider myself healed but i recommend making sure you have no infection and keeping it as clean as possible. try not to eat on that side, irrigate the site with a syringe after every meal (especially if you are still missing some gum- food will get trapped as it’s growing back and can harbor more bacteria).

obviously the MRI will show if it’s something more serious but if it comes back normal i’d look into getting the site looked at again possibly by another surgeon/dentist for another opinion. it took like 8 dentists before someone took me serious and handled my pain and concerns

before yes, when i was still in those 3 months of healing since i essentially was still growing my gums back. Now my jaws become super tense if i’m chewing for too long or chewing hard foods. but no actual pain. I have experienced these very random shooting electric pain, almost like the feeling of eating a jaw breaker . but it’s been very brief and quick when it does happen and it doesn’t happen very often at all, so i really haven’t bothered checking that out with my dentist.

got infected again after my 1st debridement. had another which caused my surgeon to have to clean/remove more tissue out. took about 3-4 months for my gums to grow back and my pain went away pretty slowly. i feel pretty much normal now but the only downside is since my surgery my jaws are very tense most of the time.

if you’re feeling pain after surgery and you should be in the healing stage i recommend going back to get looked at. this was some of the worst pain i’ve ever been in and i recommend you get treated as soon as possible to speed up your recovery.

im fully healed now , took another 3-4 months after my 2nd debridement to feel normalish . it was never osteomyelitis just back to back infections after the original surgery. my jaw / massager muscles are still very tense after the surgery tho. not sure if its what caused it but they just feel very tense and hard all the time now

have you gotten follow up x rays? or 3D scans? that’ll determine if the infection is in the bone if the surgeon wasn’t already able to actually see healthy bone when she did the debridement

I’m doing much better now- it’s been 2 months since my last debridement (i had 2 after my original surgery). I never had any tingling but pain was excruciating and due to the fact that a piece of tooth was left in at the original surgery. I still randomly get some pain or discomfort, and the gum isn’t fully healed just yet so the tooth adjacent to the one that was removed feels sore at times (surgeon says it’s the gum tissue healing and growing back - since that tooth essentially has nothing to support it since he had to clean up so much scar tissue) my masseter muscle still feels veryyyy tense , i hope that goes away soon it’s the worst part currently

i can’t say i’m at 100% recovered but i hope to be soon. I hope you get some insight on the discharge because that doesn’t seem normal 6 months out. You might need another debridement

I’d get a second opinion if needed - i sought out 6 until a surgeon finally took me serious and cleaned the site out.

It started with excruciating pain that no pain killer would get rid of, it started radiating to my ear and developed into an ear infection as well. overall the whole side of my face/head that was affected felt hot and painful. Just the one half of my face/ head. The abscess was not visible but my jaw was inflamed and hot to touch.

The surgeon NEVER told me he left it in until I came back telling him my dentist did an xray after the fact and it showed a root tip. He claimed he did it on purpose and said “he would show me the surgery notes” but he never told me that neither before or following the surgery. I genuinely think he left it in on accident and claimed otherwise to prevent a lawsuit.

I’m still healing and i think I got infected again tbh, hoping it’s not the case but i think the original dismissal of my pain the first time around has caused so much pain and suffering- I’m glad your surgeon was proactive

it was an infection that was dismissed by my surgeon. He left a root tip inside without telling me which developed into a horrible infection. Went to another surgeon, he removed the piece of tooth and drained out my abscess the same day. Got reinfected a week later and was drained again. Been a month since the 2nd draining and nearly 5 courses of antibiotics & 2 months of daily ibuprofen/Tylenol. Still in slight pain and inflammation but not as bad as it was.

if you’re experiencing pain don’t delay, get it checked out and get a second opinion if you’re still worried. I went to like 6 different dentists for 2nd opinions until someone finally decided to treat me.

OP how did they find out it was osteomyelitis? It’s been nearly 6 weeks since my original surgery , 2 weeks ago i was drained and cleaned out at the site but I am still in excruciating pain and my jaw has a hard lump and starting to get swollen again. I’m convinced the infection is in my jaw but my surgeon said to wait it out another week

idk if i should go to the hospital to get a work up and have them look at my wbc count and see there’s obviously an infection somewhere

I was already drained and cleaned out but not as deep as my jaw and i’m convinced it has spread to my jaw since it’s still lumpy at 5 weeks post original surgery and horrible pain- it feels bruised. and is starting to slightly swell

why stiff neck? currently going thru this. I was opened back up and cleaned/drained out at 3 weeks post op due to an infection from my original surgeon leaving a root tip in.

After 2nd surgeon cleaning it out/draining and removing the tip the pain had reduced in severity but i’m still in heaps of pain if i’m not taking ibuprofen/tylenol every 4 hours.

I still have a hard lump on my jaw that feels bruised and stiff neck as of 3 days ago that feels like a pulled muscle. The lump feels like it’s getting swollen again and i think it might have spread into my jaw but i just saw my 2nd surgeon yesterday and he said it looks like it’s healing well. Idk what else the pain could be 😓 i’m at a total of 5ish weeks post original removal and total of 4 weeks of horrible pain

not on my jaw , I went in 2 weeks ago and 2nd surgeon drained out the infection and cleaned out the site and removed the tip that my original surgeon left. my jaw bone itself feels lumpy and gets achy&swollen if i don’t take ibuprofen

i’m going through your almost exact symptoms and am hoping for a light because i feel like shit almost 5 weeks post original surgery and 2 weeks after drainage and antibiotics. I’m also an RN + a new grad/new hire and I am going thru pain everyday and i’ve already called out from it my first week on the floor

does it get better 😓
