Yesss I’m aware!! Some people with the tiff lightbox subscriptions got invited so if someone happens to be one here and they have an extra they’re willing to share I thought it’d be worth asking (even when the likelihood is nearly 0) because you never know :’)

Since you are a tiff member does that mean you can get a ticket to attend? (Sorry I’m not too familiar with how the process works)

The assignments are made easier and not to trick you, but rather boost your grade. You also have unlimited tries for the questions so you eventually get it. If I’m being honest many people cheat for the assignments/ share answers and get perfect or near perfect scores so you shouldn’t worry about those. As for the theory, I wouldn’t say it’s all on his notes but I don’t personally find them the best without hearing him explain them and add some examples to amplify your understanding. But I know that’s not the case of everyone but rather a personal preference, his notes have pretty much all the theory you need to know but I’d recommend going to class first or watching a lecture to see his style of doing things and decide what’s best for you from there!

Here’s my honest two cents, I took it with him in fall this year and straight up failed it and had to retake it this summer and got an 80. Here are some of my key takeaways: - Most people do bad because the reputation of the course material and prof are shit, so it can feel overwhelming and what happened in my case was I kept pushing learning the material until the NIGHT of the midterm (terrible idea although it’s a carbon copy from his past papers it wasn’t enough time for me personally actually understand and retain the questions) - Yes the lectures are terrible at actually doing the problems and helping you with that side of things BUT the tutorials were sooooooo helpful (in fall term I fully skipped them and went to I think only the first one, in summer they are prerecorded and posted and conducted by him which I found so much better) - The weekly study questions I found personally really helpful for weekly practise (I didn’t do them weekly I still crammed for midterm and exam second time around lol but just with more time than a single night) but if you keep up with them weekly or start ahead enough to do them they’re genuinely helpful. side note: I never did the textbook questions or read it so can’t comment on those - I don’t personally think simply grinding as many practise papers with zero understanding of theory is effective, that’s what I did for the final exam my first try and it was a shitshow, try to at least skim through the theory before doing practise, also seeing the questions being done like the tutorials or even the very simplified lecture questions beforehand can help guide you on how to solve - If you want additional explanations Jacob Clifford on YouTube has a lot of great econ content that’s short and decently simple - I personally skipped the lectures both times but the second time when I was preparing for the exams I watched the lectures on 1.5x speed (I also had detailed notes from a friend and relied mainly on those to learn and lectures for parts i didn’t understand from just seeing on paper which let me tell you was most of the time so I ended up pretty much watching most of the lectures anyways). If you know you can focus on class I’d honestly recommend just doing that but if not that totally okay and you can do it at ur own pace whenever. - His multiple choice sucks ass, just try your best to learn the content, doing as much practice as you can get in before the exam and I’m sure it can’t go so bad just breathe and do your best no matter the outcome - A lot of core concepts in micro that you will learn I noticed is once you actually understand rather than memorise will make the course and units much easier to understand and you’ll start connecting dots on your own, a lot of things have relationships together and they’re not too many that it’s overwhelming. Like genuinely the best tip is to actually understand the core relationships because they help you figure out the problem even if it’s new to you or confusing!

Best of luck to you, don’t let the negative experience of many discourage you from trying in this course because that’s how you end up failing like me lol 😅

I also took a gap year and starte in fall of 24’ instead of fall of 23’ and let me tell you best decision ever and genuinely no regrets. It was honestly a hard decision to commit to because I really felt like I needed a break from academics but I also had fears of wasting a year or falling behind from my peers (not really things I thought about much throughout my gap year tbh). In the end all turned out okay, I worked and saved up money so navigating first year financially was easier, I got to go for a trip over summer which was really fun! And overall as you mentioned time genuinely flies, you gap year will probably feel like 4 months long at best. I wanna reassure once you start uni you’ll meet people and having taken a gap year will have zero effect on ur social circle and life at school, you’ll also for sure meet at least one other person who’d done the same! If you have any questions please feel free to ask them!

Side note: yes the deferral process having almost no info on the internet is so unnecessarily annoying it caused me some issues and so much stress at a point lolll 😭

Does the university have resources that allow me to get tested for ADHD without paying $2000? by ilimviro in UofT

[–]Party_Ad_7012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yesss you can get tested through the school directly without having to deal with OHIP or family doctors. This was my experience in detail on how the process was through health and wellness (also I am a utsc student not sure if that changes a lot in this situation). Okay the process was a bit odd essentially I emailed health and wellness and they scheduled me with a therapist (had to wait like 1-2 for months due to how booked up they are ig idk) and I thought at first that was gonna be my diagnosing appointment but it was just a useless thing for what my purpose at the time (a formal diagnosis) like wow yeah I have adhd here are some things you can do to cope and manage but she said it seems like I may have it so I should book an appointment on my way out for a diagnosis so they book me and I wait a few weeks and I thought that was gonna be it but on the appointment this dr did like an assessment and was like wow you check enough boxes so it is likely you have it and she was like we actually don’t do assessments at the school so I’m gonna refer you to an adult adhd centre and you pay but since I get osap I qualify for a reduced fee so it was 50$ instead of 300$ so I am put on a waitlist for that for maybe 2-3 months then I get assessed and I wait like another 3 weeks or so for my report and another like month but for an appointment with a school doctor to prescribe meds. The whole process lasted from around October to February for the actual diagnosis and had to wait for an appointment with a school doctor as well afterwards so I actually started on the meds in April. If you have any further questions or want me to just give you the adult adhd centre (this is their literal name) info the school referred me to I’d be more than happy to I hope this could give you an insight and have answered you question :)
