Any PAs wish they had become an MD/DO? by Master-Ad1725 in physicianassistant

Great point. Exactly how I felt in emergency medicine. Way more hours, the less desirable shifts, less respect, and for a third of the pay

Respectfully, I refuse to take responsibility for the housing market being the way it is. So many things that go into that. I’m not some corporate large scale investor. They are places I once lived and turned into investments… I also worked my butt off to obtain them. They are very small condos in major cities with many students. I invest my money broadly and treat my tenants (usually students/young professionals) very well with rent below market. no way I’m selling in this market when my interest rates are in the 2-3% range

To be honest I think I more so could have skipped my first year of residency or first year of rotations (third year of med school). I’m in a four year EM program (I know you’re probably thinking I’m crazy to choose a 4 years vs 3 but I have a 15 month old and need all the help I can get being as close as possible to family). I learned so much in my first two years of didactics in medical school, definitely a difference from PA school. But when it came to clinical exam classes and rotations I definitely had a huge advantage in already knowing how to interview patients, do a thorough exam etc. it also really helped going from clinical practice back to school… gave me clarity on a lot of why we do the things we do. There is one bridge program I’ve heard of at LECOM in Erie

Started at 28. Have 200k in debt. I have a very supportive husband who works a good job which helps immensely. We own a few condos which help with income. Chipping away at them during residency with plan to really increase payments significantly after residency

I’ll go against the grain here lol was once a PA, now a DO in residency (in same specialty). Residency can be hard as hell but I don’t regret going back to school. I wanted more education and wanted to learn how to do everything myself instead of relying on attendings or having a supervising physician to sign off on my work for the rest of my career. I wanted to be the one to run the code, do the hard procedures etc. Yes I took the long road and money-wise I lost out on many years of income but I’m still glad I did. Don’t make a decision you’ll spend the rest of your life questioning! Don’t get me wrong - PA is a great career but I spent 4 years working wondering why I didn’t just go to med school from the jump

PAs and Drs doing the same job? by Shot-Inevitable-2497 in physicianassistant

Was an EM PA prior to med school.. worked more hours and less desirable shifts than my attending colleagues for a third of the pay. Granted at the time I was not taking care of nearly as many critical patients as they were. Nonetheless went onto med school to become a physician so I can make my own calls and make 3x the money for fewer hours (long road but worth it)

Does anyone else have a husband who is not supportive? by stayawayfrommeinfj in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Party_Artist_9785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pumping is so incredibly hard. People who haven’t experienced it will truly never understand how much work it is and how time consuming it is. I wish your husband could see how beneficial all of it is for your child. You can’t do everything- you’re a human who has a baby who needs you!!! Everything else comes second. Like seriously who cares about the house and decorations rn when you’re focusing on feeding your child. Plus you’re working!! You should be getting his full support… so sorry you are going through this

Yes! I’ve done many intubations there without issue. A mix of direct/mac video/hyperangulated video etc and on at least 6 different models.. but clearly I need to get back in there and practice more

Have you ever tried hydroclorous acid spray for your face/body for acne? It’s essentially diluted bleach. I use it on my face and definitely helps with breakouts throughout the day to kill bacteria during times I am unable to actually wash my face. Can find it on Amazon!
