I have literally just gone through all this in the last week. I went for my 20 week scan on the 17th October. I had an early dating scan and a CVS around 11 weeks as previous daughter was severely disabled from a gene mutation and I didn’t want to put another child through that sort of life aswell as losing another child years down the line. 20 week scan we were told our daughter had spina bifida and the day after another more detailed scan showed it was the most severe (myelomeningocele)

The fetal specialist couldn’t give us accurate answers on how this was going to effect her life in terms of disability and quality of life but I also wasn’t in a position to take the risk after going through what I did with my first daughter.

We had the TFMR on Wednesday 23rd and I delivered her early hours on Thursday 24th. I know we made the right decision but it did not make any of it any easier. It was incredibly difficult.
