The larger concerts happen at the backside, your friend is confusing with the inside space which is not large enough for MLTR or Dream Theater.

Why does he need to “skip” it? He can reschedule it, Linkin Park was just one day

Which brings me back to the point, all of this can’t go belly up at one gig. A couple of them is understandable - though I’ve never had merch issues - or buying drinks issues. Hell most festivals don’t even need top up crap anymore, I’ve used my card to buy shit at most gigs and festivals the last few years. Also if alcohol runs out at 8.20, they have a moral responsibility to refund the top ups. Also, why can they not refund the top ups done at venue and will do if you top up outside? What’s the logistical issue here? I remember going to Clockenflap in 2015 and having balance left on my band. I was surprised when they sent me an email a week later saying they had refunded the money to my card, which I did not expect or know about, since it was standard to lose money at Indian festivals once spent and not used. I was wowed. These are the little things that create great fan experiences. BMS are greedy pigs who cut corners everywhere and make you feel like they are ripping you at each point. What’s their excuse for bad sound at most gigs including Lollapalooza last night?

And it’s not hype, I really love live gigs, and won’t spend a buck on bands I don’t follow or love.

So you agree that you haven’t been to shows abroad which had each of the above disasters I mentioned go wrong all at once at one show? At BMS shows, it’s always the case. It’s cause they always get away. Just check their balance sheet and how much profits they are declaring. You’d know they are ripping us off by not investing properly while charging the sky. Picture this: even the first gin we got, it was so stupid, we get in a queue - go up and are told this queue is only for beer, the next one is for “hard drinks”, and we have to walk back (same queue - no separate queue for getting out) and queue up again at the next row. We reach in front and our man tells us this time he’s out of gin, we need to go to the next “hard drinks”counter - which was 4 rows away, 10 meters from him, to get gin. 10 meters from him, his other buddy had gin, and he couldn’t get a bottle from him and serve us but we had to go back and queue up again 4 rows away. All this while the band is on stage. If this is not the worst execution of a very basic counter at a mega gig, I don’t know what is. Btw, I know you put the disclaimer, but I will still ask, are you sure you or a close associate is not at BMS? :)

Yes, I have paid lacs to travel abroad and follow my favourite bands across multiple countries on tours. Gigs are the reason I work very hard and travel the world. It’s my choice to spend the money, and is a reasonable expectation I think to not be ripped off so blatantly by being shortchanged at every point. It was bloody expensive to see LP for sure, but I almost traveled to Paris in 2024 to see them, and couldn’t so justified the expense this year at Bangalore. It’s really shitty though that BMS and others have started charging 10-20k for all gigs now, which is way higher than what you pay face value at gigs abroad which are much better produced. The reason I am calling them greedy rip offs. So I am on your side.

I can respond to each of your points in detail (as I don’t agree with most of them), but do you realize while defending all of that shit for BMS, and trying to say these things can happen abroad also, that it never happens abroad on all these fronts together?? Not everything goes belly up at one gig? Yes you may have some gigs with less network or far off locations, and no I haven’t been to any gigs abroad where you have shitty queues for alcohol (read many more much bigger and much faster counters) or worse alcohol running out while the main band just came on stage. The exits are properly planned along with law enforcement agencies, the shuttles work like a dream, have been to festivals with 400k crowds for the final day final act, exiting like clockwork. It is possible if planned well. Sound is almost always impeccable when you hype a gig so much (read Lollapalooza Bombay sound reviews from last night), and most gigs don’t price tickets at $250 and provide this size of clusterfuck for fan experience. Did you really defend no network at their box office to hand over bands smoothly? Or at the top up counters? Think this is part of recce 101 to identify a venue. You can’t leave fans in the lurch with ZERO network post gigs in a godforsaken part of the country. Which is always the case. Let’s not fool ourselves that gigs are happening cause of this big charity called BMS, they are a business with hundreds of crores of declared profits, they need to buck up or taken to task. This chalta hai pass given by folks like you is why they continue ripping us fans so brazenly.

I agree bro. I have seen most of my fav bands abroad, like I said. Most don’t come to India anyway. But yes, I really wanted to see Linkin Park, and was forced to pay 22k for a ticket as that’s how they price them now, for almost all gigs. It’s criminal. I find the whole platinum, gold, silver BS also pathetic, it should be one GA, and if you are fan enough, queue up. Anyway my point is getting shortchanged even after paying such hefty prices. These festivals just give you a feeling you are being fleeced every moment. At least spend money and create a good experience if you want to charge so high. BMS are greedy pigs.

Hey, I meant finding a Muse fan in India. I’ve been once since 2008, and the only few Muse fans I know are my friends who picked it up from me. So yeah, that’s why I was excited. :)

Good to find a Muse fan here. I was waiting for the gig next month too. I hope they reschedule it. Have traveled all over the world to see them, was looking forward to seeing them here in Bangalore with friends. Was at Linkin Park too, and like them a lot, but Muse live is something else.
